Congratulations Glenn and everyone..
[Read the article: Anatomy and significance of Monday's FISA victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A job done well..
All I can do is offer one further place that some recruiting can be done for this sort of effort.
I've been kicked off Democratic Underground several times now since they are extremely allergic to what I have to say.
However, there are some good people there who will call and get out the troops if Paul Revere alerts them.
'Nuff said.

[Read the article: Anatomy and significance of Monday's FISA victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's rather odd to spend all your time following political news and blogs if the only reason to do it is to provide justification for your view that All Is Lost. Just go out and have some fun instead.
When you see oncoming disaster it's very difficult to look away and just ignore it. The temptation to just stare at the onslaught, transfixed like a rabbit by a snake, is well nigh overwhelming.
In my case, every time I hear of some new outrage I see my grandchildren's faces and think of what the world they are coming into is going to be like. What I feel is a mixture of rage, despair and helplessness that washes over me like a tsunami and leaves me weak and gasping afterward.
It is said (by those who say things) that misery loves company. The current ongoing debacle leaves many who lean to the left in sheer misery. It's simply human nature to try and perhaps alleviate the misery by sharing a bit of it.
A cry for help can take many forms, those who are negative want to see help on the horizon too, but in their eyes the cavalry isn't coming over the hill any time soon if ever.

Houngan..
[Read the article: Harry Reid -- compare and contrast]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maybe, as someone already suggested, you should save it for another thread.
I have yet to tell anyone else what they should or should not post here.
Why is it that so many feel the need to tell me how and what to post?
The fact of the matter is that if you have voted for a politician that is in favor of the WOD then you have aided and abetted in the making of the USA into a police state.
I'm sure that fact does not make you comfortable and I know that is one of the reasons so many find my posts objectionable. To have one's nose rubbed in one's own bigotry is not a fun thing.
And the FISA bill is all about the continuation of the descent of America into a form of fascism, a recurring theme in my posts if you have read them for any length of time.

Despair addicts..
[Read the article: Anatomy and significance of Monday's FISA victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Atrios (whom I quoted) points out quite incisively that it's pretty ridiculous for these despair addicts to spend so much time staring into the abyss just so they can pop everyone else's balloons every time progress is made.
I think you have hit the nail on the head, people have become addicted to despair.. It is a familiar emotion, one which many have become comfortable (for lack of a better word) with.
When you get to a certain point hope becomes too painful to bear, you fear the even stronger despair that will come when the hope is dashed yet again.
It's a learned reaction, a form of PTSD.
I've been feeling much the same sort of emotions myself although I try to keep my most despairing thoughts out of my conversation and my posts. I live in a rural red area of a very red state, being a liberal here has been an extremely lonely existence.
My bete noir has obsessed me for around two decades now and the more I see of what is going on today the more strongly I come to believe that America has been setting itself up for this for a very long time.

Oh please..
[Read the article: Anatomy and significance of Monday's FISA victory]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But the McCain-Lieberman alliance is is a very hopeful sign of a forthcoming fundamental political realignment, where the best elements of both parties combine to form a new movement,
We know damn well that you don't think there *is* a "best part" to the DEMONcRAT party.
And the comment about Molotov and Von Ribbentrop reminded me of the Nachthexen. I first read of these women in a work of fiction only to discover many years later that they had actually existed.
