It was clear at that point that the rule of law was dead in the USA.

Beyond that I have wisely ignored you. Which I will continue to do after this post.

So, how many other posters here have been making the connection between the long running war on drugs and the current problems with government lawlessness?
I sure haven't seen any such posts out of you.

I'm a fan of James Burke's "Connections" TV series.

Connections explores an "Alternative View of Change" (the subtitle of the series) that rejects the conventional linear and teleological view of historical progress. Burke contends that one cannot consider the development of any particular piece of the modern world in isolation.
The worldview that Burke sets forth in "Connections" is one that resonates strongly with me, we cannot consider the development of modern politics in isolation.. There are many disparate and interconnecting historical threads that lead to this particular creek up which we find ourselves without a paddle.
In my opinion one of the strongest historical threads connected to our modern predicament is that of the War On (some) Drugs.. I make post after post about this, no one responds but no one tells me I'm wrong either.
Can anyone tell me why there are so few posters who wish to discuss the historical and political aspects of what Silenced has brilliantly characterized as the state religion of the USA?
For that matter, does anyone wish to dispute Silenced's characterization of the War On (some) Drugs as the state religion?

DFH's, Blacks, (all brown people, for that matter), artists, non-conformists, eccentrics of all kinds, sick people for whom medicine = something from nature rather than a chemical expensive pill from corporatist drug pushers, and so on.
Exactly, and my point is that once you have established a war against a segment of the population expanding it to the entire population is simply a matter of degree, not of kind.
That's the point the leads to my paraphrasing Rev. Niemoller: First they came for the dopers, and I did not speak up since I was not a doper.
The utter brilliance of the war on drugs is that, even after the lesson of the holocaust, the government managed to find a segment of the population that all "right thinking people" despised and had no problem with throwing in cages.
In my mind "Drug Free" = "Doperfrei" = "Judenfrei"
You see it everywhere.
I know why most people don't want to talk about it.. They are complicit, at least passively so, in the demonization and persecution of dopers. The propaganda has been so pervasive and has gone on for so long that to free one's mind of it takes a very strong effort of intellect and will.
If you are against the demonization and persecution of this particular segment of the population then there is quite literally no one for whom you can vote in good conscience and there hasn't been since Jimmy Carter.
The silence which greets my posts is the silence of shame.. Those reading my words realize that they have been duped into supporting a policy which Nazi Germany would have been proud to call its own.
If you have voted for a politician who is pro War On (some) Drugs then you are complicit in the descent of America into a police state.
That doesn't leave many (any?) active voters who escape complicity.
I've been arguing this point for at least two decades now and I invariably get the same series of reactions.. The first accusation is that I just want to do drugs myself legally.
Next I'm told that I'm completely wrong, with no logic or data to back up the claim.
Then I get silence.

Even with my posts, you absolutely cannot keep yourself from making references based around The War On (some) Drugs.
Why not "drinking heavily" rather than "hitting the crack pipe"?
Perhaps because you drink yourself and find the stupidity inducing effects of alcohol familiar and hence unworthy of comment?
"Don't listen to him, it's the booze talking".
