Here's how she redeems herself NOW

Feinstein seems to know that the takeover of the AM radio dial by GOP tricksters operating perhaps the biggest dirty disinformation operation in history has ruined out politics and simply cannot be overcome even with concerted citizen action like the blogosphere. She said as much when the issue of the Fairness Doctrine came up, and gave the impression she would take a lead at "looking at" the issue. The supreme irony is that it wouldnt even take the Fairness Doctrine but just applied pressure by the Congress to ownership, via high profile hearings that expose how the right has pirated the entire AM radio dial and pumped lies 24/7 for 17 years into naive prols who believe (according to the 12 year Annenberg School study) with "false certainty" the right's spin on almost every issue, which then issues throughout the media food chain and quickly becomes the conventional wisdom of a nation dumbed down to the point where even Walter Cronkite said we no longer had the brains to support a democracy.

So she should lead on this issue and NOW. It doesnt matter which committee but there should be relentless hearings into the utter falsity being pumped out to millions by nearly ever major talk station signal in the country, 2-3 stations in even markets like Boston with not one allowed to give an opposing view, while callers trying to correct the record are quickly snuffed in clear demonstration that operators know they are running a dirty false information operation. Let these owners know that they will in 2009 have revoked all of the multiple market ownership waivers which were dealt by Michael Powell's FCC just before the 2004 election TO BUY THEM. Tell them defiantly in the face of the Limbaugh tricksters that they will be required to immediately justify their public licenses by showing how balanced they are (or aren't) as an administative function since these are public airwaves and not their property. Feinstein could add the weight to this pressure that could start the media corporations to buckle, while now they are showing their contempt for the Dem Congress by doing such things as rolling out Dennis Miller on 150 stations just after the 06 Congress sweep, and yet ratings winner Ed Schultz can't get picked up in half the markets.

This is it folks. They have this country by the balls and there is no letting go without the kind of pressure that Senators of stateswoman presence such as Feinstein can bring. So here is her most crucial opportunity to redeem herself now, lest she and our entire politics has no chance to emerge from the sewer.

I am traveling in Europe right now and find that nearly everyone I talk with here knows that this is the root problem with the U.S. becoming the world's top pariah nation. Why does no one else bring this issue to the table except in passing? RIP America.

Stupid is as stupid does

Suggest you come down from the ivory tower and visit my hometown of Springfield, Missouri - population 275,000. It may be the most pro-Bush city remaining in the country, where the half-morbidly-obese population are excited that their hero Bush has flopped so miserably because this is fresh evidence that the rapture is on course. That's right, rednecks who are fatter and dumber than pigs (since pigs won't eat themselves to death) enabled this cretin to destroy the world, and won't be satisfied until the job gits done. All of this is clothed in holiness, of course, in the home of the Baptist Bible College and world headquarters of the Assembly of God, where elder Ashcroft takes his turn Sundays running in place while speaking in tongues, even handling snakes on special occasions. You remember Elder Ashcroft, right?

After I escaped from this forced idiocy (about the time the Klan burned down the directors house on opening night of the college production of Larry Kramer's "Normal Heart") I was chilled to turn on the AM radio station in almost any city in America I traveled, to hear that the same ignorant rednecks were taking over the country, bullying their way through all rational thought, forcing endless war, destroying the U.S. reputation in the world permanently. I didn't need to question where all of this came from. I recognized it instantly. I had come from it.

Welcome to Nation of Rednecks.

Fat, amoral Americans don't care

By now it should be clear to all people of conscience that the vast majority of Americans are fat amoral overprivileged sows, sufficiently demented by the cinematic 9/11 attacks to want to punish wholesale anyone within reach in order to send a message to the world that we are not to be messed with.

This kind of stupid (literal) overkill has effectively killed us as a nation in the eyes of the world, and probably in fact, too. Time will tell if a nation that is only 250 years old can survive such a fatal miscalculation of blunderbussing over a region which counts its grudges in thousands of year, where both the British and Soviet empires were brought down.

How sad that we didn't take up the world's sypathetic offer right after 9/11 to join an international police force to hunt down those responsible and bring them to justice. Indeed all of the real prosecutions and busts of so-called "terrorists" have been done by the civilized nations with much better intel services. They would have gladly worked with us to police world terrorism, giving us sufficient cover from the charges of abuse and overkill which destroyed our reputation and probably our country. All that would have been required is a teamwork approach, and willingness to look at why people are willing to die to kill us, something that a nation of dumbed-down greedy clueless nitwits no longer has the capacity or decency to consider.
