Shalom!

Hey, it's Davey S. (Age 9), and he is here to tell us about how our country can be just like another country he has in mind. A brave, wild frontier where the men's backs glisten as they plow and till the fetid soil, groves of orange and olive prosper from their efforts; where the women are kind and strong, the children a standard deviation higher than the norm and the former residents corralled around by barbed wires, bullets and bulldozers.

Dream a little dream, Sugarman.

Western Conservatism

I think Western Conservatism is more forgiving of sexuality. You have to remember that its the Southern, Eastern Republicans that formed the moral majority, took that disease out to the coast to be with Reagan, and largely flew over Scottsdale, Silver City, Tulsa and dare not set foot in Austin.

So, I don't know is Napolitano's alleged sexuality would make a lick of difference (no pun intended) to a group of "centrist" voters that Obama would very much like to court.

The question is this: how many AZ/NM/OK/TX/NV voters love McCain, how many don't care for him, how many hate him, and how many are "values voters"?

It wouldn't be my favorite trend for Obama continue going right with Napolitano, but she's shown herself to be a competent speaker in possession of a sharp mind. I just don't know enough about her, and I'm hoping that Obama won't pick someone out of "right field" that progressives will have trouble vetting before they can influence the decision.

Fuck that guy

Man.. I have got to be careful what I wish for. I spent all of 2005 cursing the man and his stupid filesystem.

Q: What's another name for reiser_fsck?

A: mkfs.reiser

Poor kids, too bad about the wife. Hans can rot in jail, however, and if hell if there is one.

DiFi is out

I'm in California, and I'm going to do everything in my power to oust Diane Feinstein when she is up for re-election.

Obama covered his ass just enough to save my vote in November, but I am not happy about being held hostage (once again) by the Right Wing Democratic Party.

Wow

I should have donated more cash to Dennis Kucinich. Kucinich '12!

What does the White House have on these people? Photos of each one of them raping young boys? Eating babies? Did Bush throw some rager of a coke party and video tape Obama doing rails off Pelosi's tits? WTF?

I believe in UFO like Kucinich: Unprincipalled Flip-flopping Ogliarchs.

West Wing..

Jeb for president.

It seemed to me that whenever President Bartlett needed something, he'd send Josh Lyman and Toby Zeigler and even Leo fucken McGarry himself to the hill to plead, cajole, threaten yes but often bargain for a "Deal."

I'm trying to figure out what we got out of this one.

Anyone wants to enlighten me, go on ahead.

Hillary

Oh.. $1000? That's why she voted nay for cloture.

@Juan Cole

When did Congress, or we as a nation, have a debate about whether we want to authorize the establishment of a domestic intelligence agency?

Yesterday.

Depressing

It must be very bitter-sweet to be able to say "I told you so," with such authority, Mr. Greenwald.

I am deeply saddened. My additional comments if you care to follow the link in my sig.

Give him a break, Glenn

Why pile on Joe? Fate has dealt him a cruel hand in making him look like a Ferangi.

ugh

There is a thing in Economics called Gresham's Law, "bad money drives out good money." Lately we are seeing bad comments drive out good comments. Like this one. Threatening a Presidential CANDIDATE with impeachment is completely divorced from reality. It's past inane and racing toward stupid.

Hate to say it but I'm in total agreement with Shooter on this one. Let's let the presumptive nominee win the election before we start prosecuting him for crimes he has not yet committed.

OT - Daily Show

The Daily Show coverage of the campaign "coverage" is pitch perfect. I don't know if you have been watching this week, Glenn, but you should. The McCain intro they have is hilarious.

Original article: A tale of two campaigns

Well..

I actually don't believe the race is as close as polls would indicate; Of course, I've been wrong before ("how could Gore possibly lose to that chimp Bush?", "how could Kerry, a genuine war hero, lose to that chimp Bush?"). Then again, Rove has been wrong too ("I have 'the math'").

I think conventional electoral math will be skewed by a significant influx of new voters (get ready for some crazy disenfranchisement dirty tricks come November), and I think everyone is hedging their bets -- certainly Rove doesn't want to give Obama any more momentum by releasing any poll that paints McCain's campaign as virtually impossible.

But then again, I think that polls are more propaganda than science, so a poll that says McCain has a fighting chance could have the effect of giving him a "sympathy" bump by energizing a less than enthusiastic Republican base. That said, the timing of this poll is highly suspect in the context of McCain's disastrous week.

Who knows what the RNC has up its sleeves, but right now it looks like Barack has this one in the bag.

DEMBHOLES always such fun.

@elephantman

Thanks to the right's liberal interpretation of the Second Amendment, the following is a possibility:

Should Rep. Smith be concerned that he'll now be subjected to a "citizens' arrest" with Karl Rove and Paul Wolfowitz? That he'll be tried for war crimes and "hung" as somebody suggested below?
