Sorry..
[Read the article: Tin-eared at MSNBC]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]@AKA Smith, I mean.
Why should she let it go? Because there's nothing there.
Clinton lost not because she's a woman but because she's a scumbag, with scumbag advisers.
Olbermann called her out, and he's being accused of sexism. But there is little to not substance to that claim, and a preponderance of evidence to my principal claim, which is that Olbermann objected to Clinton on specific matters of substance and tactics.
So, let it go. Clinton lost. Its over.
If you want to accuse someone of sexism, I stand naked before you. I hate all women, and especially Clinton, an uppity woman. She should make me a sandwich.
Of course, I don't actually believe that, neither does Olbermann given what I have seen of his show.
Where is the line drawn? Stop confusing identity politics with specific, substantive criticisms.
Olbermann clearly favored Obama as did much of the news media when it was clear that he was going to win. Its just that you and Joan and everyone else still going on about this refused to believe it.
If I discover that I am wrong about Keith and that I am in denial about his dirty, dirty misogyny then I shall be forthright with a mea culpa; in the meantime, please stop living in denial about the reality of what brought Clinton down: herself.

TLDR
[Read the article: Tin-eared at MSNBC]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Means "too long, didn't read."
My mistake.
Sorry if I "let you down."
This non-issue, stupid, vapid, substance free meta-news navel gazing is really infuriating. Forgive me for being rash.
And yes, I'm in my early 30s. That means movies have always been in color (unless its art) and I am old/young enough to have formed bad habits on Prodigy in the 1980s in terms of reading comprehension as it relates to electronic fora.

@AKA
[Read the article: Tin-eared at MSNBC]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I picked the two or three points I feel were deserving of a response:
The Harem metaphor is my statement of how out-of-proportion some of the claims of Olbermann's alleged sexism seem to me -- as if you might as well say he keeps a harem, he is that sexist.
I responded that if proven wrong I will gladly apologize, and take Olbermann to task.
I responded that I think identity politics drive false claims of sexism against legitimate complaints levied by Olbermann.
I will add two things:
You're right, Chris Matthews is a misogynist. I frequently yell at the TV whenever he is on, and wonder out loud why he is allowed on TV at all. I feel the same about Joan, but much more strongly about Chris Matthews.
I will also concede that the "two enter, one leaves" is evocative of implied violence at worst, and at best coercion, which, I will also concede, I can understand how a Clinton supporter (especially one with a fiscal stake, if not emotional and temporal) would take umbrage against perceived coercion.
It was, as I have said, as Olbermann has said, a poor choice of words, and insensitive to some viewers, who, rightly are offended.
What do I have to do to convince you that Olbermann was earnest and forthright in his mea culpa related to that specific gaffe -- the only gaffe that has a specific whiff of possible sexist and violent innuendo? Has the toothpaste escaped the tube? Can that cat never be put back into the bag?
Am I not right in feeling that Olbermann is being extorted by Joan for something he has responded to already, in a timely and reasonable manner?
Am I wrong for thinking this unreasonable?
I have seen the effects of violence against women and it is no joking matter, it is an issue that fills me with a great deal of frustration and anger. Rehashing the poorly chosen words of a television commentator engaged in commentary about a heated political race does a disservice to legitimate and serious womens issues in my opinion. And this is Keith Olbermann, not Don Imus.
Please, just give the man a break!
