Math isn't one of them, is it?

Refreshing, and depressing

I spoke with my ex-roommate tonight about this election. He is a reluctant Obama supporter, and, in his own words, "the best the Democratic party can offer is a woman and a black guy? On the other hand, either one would be running against the crazy old guy the Republican party didn't want."

He views Obama with a greater degree of skepticism than I do, but in many ways he is probably right: this three-way race (soon to be a two-way race) is anyone's game. Republicans have proven over and over again that they have a tactical advantage in convincing voters to vote against what I (and he) believe to be their best interests based on powerful use of psychological propaganda.

"The woman," "the black guy," and "the crazy old guy" will unfortunately dominate the national debate among "low-information voters", eg, the majority.

I don't know where this election is heading, but no matter what, it will be remembered as an important (and ultimately positive) turning point in American history. I hope.

@david

not to denigrate your people and heritage, or anyone's estimation of the influence of those of the jewish faith on american politics, however, i think that since 1967 any foreign policy issue seemingly in favor of israel has really been in the interest of GE, boeing, mattel, northrup grunman or any number of para- and post-military profiteers who would gladly fulfill the wildest guns and ammo dreams of that portion of israeli militants who could afford them.

which is not to say that the problems in the middle east are in any way the fault of jewish nationalists (or arab nationalists), but some blame must be laid upon the arms dealers selling to both sides of those middle-east conflicts (or african, or south or central american, or asian).

my point is that jews are a real minority in america, and their influence is marginal at best. when joe lieberman seeks republicans votes based on his support of perpetual middle-eastern war, it is not israel's well being that is forefront in the mind of the suburban white voters but far more likely their stock portfolio.

if war mongering is the best judaism has to offer us, then i fear for its survival as a philosophy, religion or even ethnicity; however i have faith in the longevity of judaism and the power of its thousands of years of knowledge and experience that will outlive clowns like lieberman, kristol, podhoeretz and others, crypto-zionist who stray into the trouble waters of war advocacy.

@*Texas*

ProudTexasGirl and/or KateTexas and other variations thereof..

take a step back.

calm down.

take a deep breath.

ask yourself why you support Clinton, ask yourself if you oppose McCain, and then ask whether you'd like to see any Democratic nominee win versus him.

If you think you'd rather vote for McCain than anyone other than Clinton, ask yourself "why".

Pick a side. Democratic or Republican.
