Also,..

There mere fact that there is no God should be enough evidence that Bush is being ultimately disingenuous when he orders the illegal murder of nearly a million people in the name of a Jew zombie who preached poverty and charity. Whether or not Bush actually believes this particular fairy tale, I may never know. But I suspect that, to some extent, he believes in it -- or at least his peculiarly twisted, blasphemous self-serving prophetic version of him. After all, its easier to sleep when you are a put-upon martyr, toiling for Christ, instead of just another asshole frat-boy who got God long enough to stay out of the drunk tank or worse.

ETA

If he does believe the fairy, if he has truly drunk the Kool-Aid, then that makes him much more dangerous than he is given credit for already.

@Anonymous

Speaking of Mennonites, I know a few who went on to *become* strippers (you will invariably encounter this if you grow up in Pennsylvania or Ohio). Also, they are famous, famous drunks. Terrible, moonshine blind, fighting, fucking and puking drunks. Them and the Amish.

What was your point? Go back to LGF.

Football (American)

I don't know. I always though there was something a little gay about a sport featuring tight-ends and wide-receivers, with all that ass slapping and huddling. Not "gay" in the Stonewall, "we're here, we're queer, get used to us" way, but more in that conservative Republican legislator way.

That's just my intuition on the matter. Full disclosure: I'm not a fan, I find the game hopelessly boring to watch.

No.

How about "no."

How about "no" to sky-god worshipping white-male imperialists who want to turn the clock back to 1830 and the empire back to 1948.

How about "no" to people who feel neither guilt nor shame at the systematic, institutionalized racism applied to our continent's first settlers and African slaves, and their decendants?

How about "no" to old, white men who spend so much time and energy trying to figure out how to control a woman's uterus (especially now that the hysterectomy has gone out of fashion). Why? Is it out of jealousy?

No. How about a "no" to those dirty, nasty men who will not let two people who are in love have the same rights as any other couple in love because they had the misfortune of being born with the same sex organs. These same dirty nasty men who seek illicit and unsafe trysts in public restrooms or prey on young gay men or use gay male prostitutes, paying extra for the privilege of going without a condom -- as if the threat of HIV is as unreal to them as their own homosexual urges.

A thousand times no!

Surely, polite society will take up the mantle of green policy, slowly, ineffectively, deliberately, as long as it pleases the shareholders.

But I'll be damned if that means I have to cast a vote in favor of the enemy of humanity and progress and liberty, these white men and their angry, racist, sociopathic, narcissistic sky god: truly, they created him in their image, and continue to fashion his countenance to fit their insatiable needs.

Two words: fuck Gingrich!

Cheers!

Reruns

Reading the letters section for "I Like To Watch" every week is like watching re-runs. Just as you know the suggestive camera work and the mid-tempo techno means that the waitress in the casino is about to be the victim of the week on today's CSI rerun, we know that some outraged moron will post a "WHY R WE TALKING ABOUT TV WHEN THERE IS SO MUCH GRIEF IN THE WORLD" and some flag-felating jingo will call Heather a communist for suggesting that Americans are fat, lazy, stupid, greedy and petty. And in their next "breath" say something xenophobic.

Thank you, salon.com, for the weekly LOLs, however, I've seen this episode 100 times.

Strawpoll08

Sorry if this is a repost, I have to run to the office so I don't have time to check all the comments.

Glenn, did you see this? http://www.strawpoll08.com/ronpaul.htm

Dr. Paul may himself be a stand up guy, but a lot of his supporters are batshit crazy.

Not that I wouldn't vigorously support a Unity 08 Paul/Kucinich, Kucinich/Paul ticket.

Hm..

I wonder how much money AIPAC, the RX lobby, KBR and WalMart gave Blitzer to not ask Kucinich any questions? Or was it just blackmail, or perhaps mind control.

I kid, I kid..

Being the better man

I'm sure Gore has graciously accepted this offer. For myself, I would go, and at my first opportunity, kick Bush in the nuts as hard as possible.

Dancing with the Stars

That Obama watches and endorses "The Wire" and Clinton watches milquetoast TV mediocrity speaks volumes to me as to why Clinton is and was a non-starter from the very first whispers of a planned Presidential campaign and why Obama, if not exactly aligned to my political views, should at least be sympathetic to them. Furthermore, her list of shows sounds disingenuous at best. Does she even really have time to plunk down and watch "Grey's Anatomy?" It seems like she would pay a staffer to do that for her and write recaps she can review from the road. That Obama watches "The Wire", not only the greatest television show ever produced but also an unashamedly political and societally relevant show, and actually admits it tells me that Obama is more in tune with "regular folks" than Queen Clinton ever will be.

Funny look

My roommate just shot me a funny look when I declared, seemingly out of the blue, "GREENWALD ANGRY!!!", which is derived from our common response to a Keith Olbermann "Special Commentary" ("OLBERMANN ANGRY!!!").

Have yourself a beer (or, because you are an unserious, out-of-touch East Coast liberal pansy, a glass of Merlot), you earned it!
