I think you should like this.
"I would not demean the memory of Harry Dexter White by saying he was not a Communist. If he was one, Communists have reason to be proud."-- I.F. Stone

I want to see the truth.
For the scholarly audience, Treasonable Doubt goes beyond a mere assessment of the facts and evidence. In his concluding chapter, Craig challenges the works of partisan journalists and historians who, he claims, "fail to apply rigorous standards when assessing the evidence relating to accused subversives." Their works, says Craig, are "replete with errors of fact and obfuscation of interpretation," and, because they reject any notion of "contextualization of fact," they find smoke where there is no fire. Craig challenges historians of espionage to consider an "alternative standard of proof," one that brings together the standards of historical research and inquiry with the existing rules of civil and criminal procedure in order to more critically assess espionage cases.
If I thought I'd get it from Haynes and Klehr, I'd listen.
I just don't think I will. And no sensible person should, not given past history and their "fellow travellers". The question is, Mona, do you want to continue "travelling" with those people?
Thanks for your letter. As you can see, we are all "America hating peacniks" here. You did omit one player from your list. however.
American Enterprise Institute, Feith and Rumsfeld, self-serving ex-Iraqi-patriates, weak (or skirted around) state department and national security advisors, a politically blunted, short-circuited intelligence apparatus and most of all Darth Cheney.
There is a good reason why. The mere mention of their name and you are branded an anti-semite. Bullshit. If you are unfamiliar with Col. Pat Lang's blog, you should enjoy it. No one minces words there.

His 2004 article, Drinking The Kool-Aid, might get you up to speed.

Wiki has a good entry on him. He's a retired military patriot himself. I think you two may have a lot in common.

But I really like this quote.
"There is no reason good can't triumph over evil, if only angels will get organized along the lines of the mafia."
--Kurt Vonnegut
All you have to do is read one issue of the Reason Foundation's publications to see how absurd absolute libertarianism is -- pretty much on the same level as absolute communism. Neither of them account for simple human greed and love of power.
"Gosh, how can I argue with that? My sense of perspective is hereby restored."
Look at the bright side, the silver lining. He's not using a gun to take your money. That's progress!
"By definition neo-cons and their running dogs and fellow travellers should be recognized by the masses as deep in political error."
This is precisely the blind spot Mona has. She thinks I have one about Stalin because I identify with social democracy, like Orwell. That makes no sense whatsoever. Go figure.
I leave it to the rest of the readers to decide who has the blind spot.
Joe Lieberman takes his orders from AIPAC, and he's not the only Democrat who gets money from them.

WASHINGTON – Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT) made the following statement today regarding reports that members of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) were involved in the alleged unauthorized sharing of sensitive information from the U.S. Department of Defense to Israel:
“AIPAC is an organization of American patriots committed to promoting America’s interest in strengthening ties with our democratic ally Israel. Since its founding fifty years ago, AIPAC has served its fellow Americans by promoting peace, justice and security in the Middle East and beyond. AIPAC deserves our gratitude and support for its important service and devotion to our country.”
If that isn't the biggest crock of shit I have ever read...
Let the accusations of anti-semitism commence...
I'm no fan of wingnut Zionists like the loon who assassinated Rabin, or the Likudniks, any more than I care for the fools who killed Sadat. But Israel has to live in that neighborhood. We don't. I take the same view as many Israelis whose voices we don't get to hear often in America, that they are dooming themselves, and by making them the 51st state of America, officially or unofficially, it only hurts them in the long run. Before Billmon stopped blogging the last time, he gave them 30 years at the outside if they keep on trucking down the highway to hell they are on. I just hate to see us riding down the same road, and we have been, right along side of them.
That being said, AIPAC doesn't pay my bills and I don't like them paying my elected officials bills either.
Your thoughts are so well articulated and clearly thought out that I won't argue.
It's Sunday and this is far more interesting than American politics. I'd have to go with Blade Runner but there is another author Billmon (Gosh, we miss him) had done a post about. As usual, I had never heard of him until Billmon dug him up and there was a movie out recently based loosely on his dystopian view of the future that wasn't promoted at all so no one saw it. Little wonder that, (and it's not A Canticle for Liebowitz), but along those same lines. Basically, idiots rule the world. Sound familiar?
I think the premise of this satirical and black comedy was a guy wakes up in the future and finds that idiots have taken over. Now I give you this:
