  • Primaries Do Not Predict General Elections

[Read the article: What's the Obama campaign's position on superdelegates?]

Anonymous - I do not know why you pretend you have a crystal ball when you so obviously lack an understanding of the political process. What on earth makes you think Obama is destined to loose CA and NJ to phony maverick McCain? Is it because those are states your favored candidate Hillary Clinton actually won primaries in? All those primary victories tell us is that on that particular day, in a race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, a tiny minority of highly motivated voters, almost exclusively registered Democrats, voted for Hillary in Democratic strongholds. It does not tell us how either candidate would do against McCain nine months from now. The vast majority of the general population, Latinos, Blacks, Whites, women, men etc. have not even taken a good look at any of these candidates. Many of them aren't even registered yet.

I think people here are far too fanatical about the candidates they prefer. If you like Obama then you should be fine with Clinton and vice versa- they both have much more in common with each other than they do with McCain, whose foreign policy is the same mess that Bush has pushed to send America down the toilet and in greater danger than we have ever been. Both candidates are immensely talented and have some of the most capable teams working for them.

We have no idea how either of these candidates will do in a general election against McCain so stop your whining. I will support the nominee whoever it is, and strongly believe that if we are united, we can win with either candidate.

  • Damnthatxanadu - Give it up already

[Read the article: Ferraro resigns from Clinton campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Damnthatxanadu - I have heard the argument you are making several times now. You are saying that we are not allowed to talk about Obama's racial background because we are too politically correct. That is nonsense. Plenty of people have said, sure Obama's race has some part to do with how people perceive him. Someone earlier said they had no problem with people voting for Obama because he was black or with people voting for Hillary because she is a woman - all other things being equal.

But that is NOT what Ferraro said. It would not have been an issue if Ferraro had simply said Obama's race is one factor in his success and left if at that. I'd still think it was muddying the waters and far less important than such issues as who really has the better health-care plan or if Hillary actually has a "lifetime" of relevant experience for the presidency. But she could say it without causing an uproar. Instead she basically said Obama is only succeeding because he is black. That is patently racist and also patently untrue. If I said the only reason Hillary is still in this race is because she is a woman it would be equally sexist.
