  • Mocking and ridiculing

    judydh,

Never met a scientist, huh? Only know of them from those 1950s movies with the guys in white lab coats?

Ever think you might get further in your arguments if you didn't make wild accusations with no basis in truth?

Please, go back to your cave and cuddle with your rats. Lets hope for your sake they don't get too hungry.

    jackson,

So you'd seriously contemplate giving up your spot? Jump overboard for the good of ratdom everywhere?

That said, she'd be making a mistake to throw the rat off so quickly. She could eat it if need be.

  • If Ben weren't hurt

    TheSunGod,

You're absolutely right there. If Ben weren't hurt, they'd have gone 13-3. And if Ahman Green, Javon Walker, Robert Ferguson, Bubba Franks, (continue list for 15 or 16 more people) weren't hurt, The Packers would have gone 13-3 and beaten the Steelers.

Amazing that they won the Superbowl and still feel defensive about it, I wonder why...

  • Rat to life

    jackson,

I'm just snarking a bit because the argument has gotten far from its original intent and people are making weird assertions at this point. There are many reasons having a rat in your lifeboat isn't a good idea. Disease, eating your food, gnawing on you while you sleep or perhaps your raft, etc...

I eat meat. I don't apologize for it. If you eat, you kill. If you live, you kill. I don't intend to have qualms for every cow that dies for my dinner, but I do support efforts to ensure the animals live decent lives and are killed with the least suffering possible. It is always a fine line. The only way to make sure you aren't killing something is to take one final life, your own. This isn't a suggestion or a threat or sarcasm. To live is to kill. Our intent is what matters here.

  • Rats and caves

    judydh,

First of all, I've no cave to go to. I've embraced the wonders of science and the benefits they bring. That's why I live in a house with plumbing.

Secondly, My post to you was sarcastic because your post was filled with such incredible hyperbole it was hard to take it seriously. You painted scientists with a very broad brush and stated your love for rats with such enthusiasm and provided numerous statements about rats that had the flavor of folklore that there was little other tone to take. It takes you a second post to mention that scientists are people and not all of them are bad.

The nonsensical statements like "When European and North American scientists meet and discuss animal lab environmental enrichment the Europeans mock and ridicule us" keep you from being taken seriously.

  • In the videos

    Sara,

If I were present while the behavior in the videos was happening, I'd stop the people performing the actions. That would include calling the police and if the behavior didn't stop while the police were en route, physical restraint or violence.

However that's not really the question here. These videos are provided to tug at your emotions and hope that you won't notice that the bahavior in them has already been stopped. And even if it hasn't stopped, they're hoping you'll excuse the beatings of people that aren't actually committing the crimes in the videos. They aren'y stopping a crime, they're committing crimes to scare people into not supporting people who may employ people who might still be committing crimes.

Thanks for jumping back out of the clown car again. I know you're happy just to be part of the show... hey watch it wiht that pie.

Paul Allen is in no way deserving of your disrespect here. He's poured quite a bit of money into the Seahawks and lowered ticket prices and I believe other prices so going to a game is more affordable to the fans. He kept the Seahawks in Seattle by buying the team, spent 100 million of his own $ to help finance the new stadium, underwrote the referendum and spent his own $ campaigning for it.

I see you didn't mention anything about the Steelers stadium being new and taxpayer funded. Most stadiums are and have far less contributed by the owners. The owners are usually whinging that they'll move the team unless they get a new staium at taxpayer expense. Paul Allen said "If we fund this, we can keep the team here and have a new stadium!" And the voters said yes in a referendum, by a large margin. How'd the Steeler's referendum go?

    back to you kneel

(doo doo doodedoodoo... clown music swells for your appearance)

    Jim,

Yep, he had the jersey, tucked inside the pads, while he pulled Alexander down by the neck hole on the shoulder pads.

Spoken like a true Fox watcher.

Don't know what you're talking about? Throw those insults.

There are studies that show cities benefit economically when they have a professional sports stadium. Why shouldn't people pay taxes to gain that benefit? How is that any worse than the bonuses cities pay to lure other businesses there?

Public funds DO support symphonies, acting troupes, car dealerships and especially Wal Mart.

No-one plays football on an amature level? What about the high school teams, pop warner teams, flag football teams, people playing in the park or the semi-pro teams that are scattered all over the country? When I worked for Bank One out in Ohio, one of the tech support guys I worked with was the owner/fullback of the Ohio Swarm. Minor League Football. Hell, there's even a woman's league now and I'm not talking about that stupid Lingere League.

You sure never will again? You say that every time and then come back. Such a tease.
