Yes, the Pats are 7-0 against the Jets in the Meadowlands, but maybe this is why. What would his record be without this kind of thing?

The Packers never even complained officially.

Nor did any of the other teams that have caught them, and there have been quite a few. One article I read said the "league consensus is this is what the Pats do". Perhaps the concensus is enough is enough.

Bellechik was screwed over royally last time he was a head coach. Maybe that affected him somehow and he resorts to this kind of thing in reaction to that. He was the head coach of the Browns when Art Modell annouced he was moving the team to Baltimore in the middle of the season. The Browns had been doing well before that, people were talking playoffs. They finished 5-11. Then there was that weird nonsense with the Jets after Parcells quit when the Jets made him head coach and he bolted to the Pats.

Maybe he cheats 'cause he thinks he needs to.

Speak for yourself Wes. I frequently correct people on the change they give me, even if I'd make out in the end. However, this does illustrate the arguments the Pats fans are giving. They're fine with cheating so they figure everyone else is too.

Wes

'cause in the end it is still wrong. That should be obvious even to you.

You're one of those kids that jumped off a bridge 'cause Billy did, aren't you?

Ah, but their use of this technique is apparently common. Forfeiting this game wouldn't be just about that one game, it'd be about their habitually doing this.

And yes, it was confiscated in the first quarter as the guy kept signalling his side, even after being told to leave. We don't know how many tapes were run back to the bench in the meantime either. If the Pats gained signals then are the Jets supposed to try to change their codes mid-game to thwart the Pats having already stolen some?

Second, there is no evidence that the Patriot’s organization or Bill Belichick condoned the camera.

I know that with the current (mal)administration in Washington, it is out of favor, but I still think Truman was right. The top person is responsible for the actions of his underlings. Also, Bellichek is the one that'd be using the results of this. Claiming he didn't know about it is wishful thinking at best.

Nope, not a Jets fan and not ignorant of other rules infractions.

To King and the rest

If it is illegal and it didn't help Bellichek, do you think he'd keep doing it? That'd be like me running out to feed other people's parking meters when I know the meter maid is coming along. It is illegal, doesn't benefit me in any way and I can get in trouble for it. What sense does that make?

And according to my brother, who is a Jets fan (enough reason right there to make me root against the Jets), this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as the kinds of cheating they do. Like using extra radio signals, meaning other players have been miced or intercepting the other team's QB signal.

I have no idea if they've done these things, but apparently it is all being discussed in the media, not just from disgruntled Jets fans.

Peyton Manning talking about the Browns signing ex-Colts backup QB Kelly Holcombe in '02 and using his knowledge of the Colts offense to plan on defense.

Yep, and using outdated information your opponant knows you have is a far cry from knowing that on the next play the left corner was just told to blitz.

The problem is when teams get sneaky about it

From the Boston Herald about when they were caught by the Packers

"Just before the game, he requested to stay on the sidelines to record quarterback Tom Brady [stats] for the coaching staff. However, he was soon spotted filming the Packers defense and signaling Patriots coaches.

A member of the Packers security staff witnessed the exchange and asked him to leave. He retreated to the tunnel, continued filming, and appeared to be communicating with the coaches via hand signals before being escorted off the field."

Sounds sneaky to me.

Hell King, if all the cameras already taping the game were sufficient for this kind of spying, why would Bellichek be repeatedly sending this guy out with a camera? There's more to it than you are seeing (or more than I'm seeing too). I have NO idea why this guy was needed and how it could effect the game. Bellicheck not only knew why, he deemed it valuable enough to keep doing it and risk reprecussions, both official and to his reputation. You think whatever happens Jets fans will let this go? This has tainted the Superbowl wins and all their other victories. Pats fans should be furious with him that he allowed this to happen.

To quote my brother again (only to show how opposing fans will think of the Pats from now on)

"[An Eagles fan friend of his] is pissed wondering if they cheated against the Eagles in the SB. There is also a report that the Pats were told they couldn't bring ANY cameramen to the AFC Championship game last year and surprisingly they finally lost to the Colts in that one."
