There are people paying attention to all these things and there are people working to fix these things. Taking your approach you could never talk about anything. Why are you yelling about the death penalty when there are people in Gitmo, why are you yelling about people when the non violent drug users are locked up for no reason, why are you yelling about the drug users when the death penalty is so flawed. It isn't either/or, you can pay attention to all these things and work to fix them. Liberals aren't one big magical, infinite creature, they're a community of millions working to improve the world they live in individually, in groups and in groups of groups.
Or, if you truly believe that the magical infinite liberal can fix all problems simultaneously, why hasn't it happened
Because Conservatives stand in the way. Because Conservatives are frightened, impotent creatures who are certain DOOM is around the corner and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it except freeze everything exactly the way it is now or better still, return to a mythical golden time which never actually existed or even better still, return to the caves.
Gee, I had no idea that you folks were so hot to pursue OBL after six years
"We"'ve been "hot to persue" him for 10 years. Clinton tried and the Republicans started screaming "Wag the dog". Bushy decided to ignore him, Sept 11th happened, we went after him and might have had a chance to get him, then Bushy decided to invade Iraq. They dismantled the groups that had been put together to get binLaden. Now they ignore him.
I'll bet we could coax the Army to go after him. Heh.
Yes, you use a little inappropriate "heh" at the end of your statements like your masturbation dream GW. So clever.
You won't be able to "coax" the army to go after him 'cause republicans have no interest in going after him, GW has no intention of persuing binLaden. Hell you yourself said he isn't a priority. Of course, you'll now deny that even though your post stating it is still here on the site.
Really? What makes you think so? Why wouldn't he continue trying to makipulate whatever republican president would come next, assuming one could be elected. Bush got in twice under very questionable circumstances, they'll surely be trying to subvert the electoral process again next time.
And who's to say Cheney wouldn't simply state that he's the VP again? His low, low approval ratings didn't stop Bush from getting in the second time, what if he manuvers to become the Republican nominee for VP again? There's no term limit for VPs, is there?
Scalia is all proud of overturning precident right now. However, this is exactly why, years from now, decisions of this court will be ignored as abberations. They do not synch with the body of law that surrounds them. At best they'll be desperate hail marys for lawyers to quote when searching for a leg to stand on, but the vast body of precident, which is what law lives on, will support the very decisions Scalia is bragging about opposing.
Scalia is remarkable in that despite being on the Supreme Court, he doesn't actually understand what he's doing.
There should be 3 impeachment proceedings going on right now, Bush & Cheney for the crimes they've committed and Scalia for conficts of interest.
I'm pretty sure the cover of Time Out is a parody of the movie poster for Attack of the 50 ft. Woman. A good image of it can be seen here: http://www.scifi-universe.com/view_image.asp?img_id=2288
Or a smaller version here: http://www.briansdriveintheater.com/cheesecake/allisonhayes/allisonhayes7.jpg
The truth is that men take twice as much crap from women and vice versa.
(With apologies to Yogi Berra.)
I'd heard that election officials from all 50 states had gotten together and porposed a system where there'd be 4 primary dates with the country divided up into 4 approximately equal quarters. Each election cycle, the order would shift so every 16 years each quarter would get to go first once and each would have to go last once.
Is there any serious talk of adopting such a system outside the organization that proposed it?
Development and communication moved slower due to the distance and teams.
I've been saying this for years. And that's not even taking into consideration the differences in languange and culture! I've worked on projects with teams in both countries and it doesn't work anywhere near as well as management seems to think it will. I'm just glad that in the meantime their salaries have been increasing. I'm hoping that the experience gained in India will allow local companies to begin and take off for a local market insead of having to market everything to the US and Europe.
Now if only we become used to each other enough that when I call a call center and someone with a heavy Indian accent answers, they can introduce themselves by their real name instead of saying, as one person did today "Hello, I'm.... Mary. Can I help you?"
