Don B,
"If college and pro athletics are their their only 'choice', they would be wise to follow the rules, wouldn't they"
Which puts college athletes into a completely powerless situation. By this standard, colleges can make any rule set they want and player have no choice but to follow them. Do they set rules that they have to meet minimum educational standards? Not that are actually enforced, 'cause that'd interfere with the school making money from their labors. If they wanted to, they could. If they wanted to set rules that the players had to wash the president's car, cater his functions and mow his lawn is this any different? Perhaps they should also be required to do all the school's maintenance. Maybe a rule that they have to sign a contract giving the school marketing rights over their name and image throughout their NFL career? They'd be wise to follow the rules! No matter what the rules are? Even when their labors are being used to enrich others? This was the standard for workers in the US until the start of the 20th century too. Maybe college players need a union.
Someone from AZ (A constituent, in other words) needs to call John McCain about this bill and ask him if he's happy with a compromise that will let America put people through what he went through in Vietnam. Apparently his desire for power has clouded his memory and his time as a prisoner in Vietnam was now pleasant. I wouldn't normally want to cause someone who'd lived through such a thing to have it thrown at them in this way, but his acceptance of this legislation is so stunning given his history that I believe it needs to be done.
While Owens may technically be a better player than Rodman and be worth more on the field than Rodman is on the court, has Rodman caused 2 (soon to be 3) teams to self-distruct? Was he constantly telling the media that other players were gay, crappy players, that the coaches were idiots? Was he traded becuase of this or other reasons?
Owens has considerable physical gifts. His mental "gifts" tend to render his physical ones moot.
Dear Ms. Pelosi
I think I love you.
Lets hope you get the chance.
Were Terrell Owens a "ukulele-playing pterodactyl", he likely would have had a more productive and less distracting day than he did in the game. There wasn't a shot of him off the field where he wasn't screaming at someone or sulking on the bench. On the field his greatest contribution seemed to be to pump up the Eagles defense as they slapped away passes, beat him on routes, intercepted balls that were meant for him as he just stood by and watched or let them go through his hands. The announcers became more an more critical of him as the game went on, talking more about his lack of performance and antics instead of his being good at something.
The oddest moment was when they said Vanderjagt was talking to him on the sideline and that that'd be the last thing Parcells would want to see. Unfortunately, they left it at that. I have no idea why Vanderjagt is considered by them to be more of a troublemaker than TO. Sure, he has a big mouth as he showed in Indy, but has be been causing trouble lately?
Invader Zim lasted more than a year. Really not that hard to look it up. Try watching a few episodes, maybe you can make spare some time from all your ringtone research.

Spike42,
While Glenn may have been as pissed off, they didn't show him nearly as much and he did have a slightly more productive day than TO. If Glenn spent the time he wasn't on the field standing on the sideline screaming at the defense, I didn't see it. Perhaps that's because the network didn't show it, but I can only see what they show. I primarily spoke about TO because that's what King asked about.
As far as the underthrow to Owens late in the game, the announcers seemed to think TO screwed up the route and I'd having seen a number of replays that is what it looks like. TO came off the line slow, sped up and didn't turn around until the pass was about to be picked off. Bledsoe seems to have thrown to where he thought Owens would be.
Bledsoe is no great shakes, but his O-Line is terrible, getting rid of the ball only helps when there's someone to throw it to or if he can get out of the pocket. He threw to Owens several other times and I saw Owens give up on the route once, let it go right through his hands another time and have it slapped away from him from behind by an Eagles defended. If he was as good as his rep, not to mention as good as HE says he is, he should have made at least 2 if not all 3 of those catches. He's not willing to make catches if he's about to get hit. He's not willing to fight for the ball and he's apparently not able to make the catches he could have in the past. Owens is nothing but a sideshow attraction, much like putting a clown on the Blurnsball field in Futurama. "Clowns are only funny when they swing away!"
Dallas seems to have become the home for castoffs. Bledsoe, Owens, Glenn, even Keyshawn Johnson was there for awhile. Parcells is no great shakes either. Parcells is probably starting Bledsoe over Romo because he's being told to from above. Bledsoe still has name recognition and that's what this team is built on. Look for them to add a washed up running back any day now.
