"For every cynical or hypocritical statement of 'the Republicans' it is easy to come up with an equal number of the same for 'the Democrats' "

You haven't been paying much attention to the Republicans, have you?

So which are you? Are you the type that says there's no difference between the parties because we're all doomed? Doooooooooooomed?

Or are you the type that says there's no difference between the parties because you're a Republican clutching at straws and using every bit of blather you can to pretend that there's no reason to vote the Republicans out of power?

Either way there's little point to your posts. Go hide in your bunker and let the rest of us work for change without your caterwauling.

I'm sorry, but Gore saying there's no medical benefit to marijuana in no way makes him no more honest than Bush. That's like saying a bb gun is equal to a nuke or the salary of someone starting at Wal Mart is equal to the salary of Bill Gates. If you're unable to understand proportion to this degree, get help. Seriously. While Gore supports science, understands it and has had honest, thoughtful plans about most of America's problems, Bush has falsified science time and again, lied to go to war, lied to enrich his friends, lied to get elected and probably lied to order lunch.

One man is an honest man who unfortunately had to suck up to public perception.

The other is a dishonest psychopath who doesn't give a damn about anyone but himself and his cronies for whom power is an end unto istelf.

    Yeah, those are the same.

  • Entrapment

[Read the article: The Democrats and William Jefferson]

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that the Republicans used the FBI to entrap this congressman just so they have someone to point at. I'm not saying I believe that now, but it really wouldn't surprise me.

Also, the Democrats have NOT fallen in public opinion right along with the republicans. Poll after poll shows Americans want them in charge of congress. Please knock it off with the "no difference between the parties" crap. I'm sure Nader is starting a commune somewhere, go find him.

Not a single mention of the Church of the Sub Genius? A great parody-religion based on the concept of Slack.

  • Misinterpretation

[Read the article: Let's play group sex]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I've heard the song, seen the video and just looked up and read the lyrics, which confirms what I thought when I read this. The song isn't about group sex. It is barely about sex! The song is just "You should be with me not her" blah blah blah. Catchy, vapid and just another pop song.

  • Polls worst with the ignorant too

[Read the article: The worst president? A poll says it's Bush]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Great, he polled worst of "modern" presidents. When does "modern" start? They voted Regan best? Shows they have no idea what they're comparing. Regan was a horrible president that rode a wave of prosperity brought about by the combination of high inflation in the 70s and low inflation in the 80s that made people's mortgages miniscule. That aside he and his administration were miserable criminals with what was it, 23 convictions? And that doesn't include Grenada, Lebanon, Iran-Contra, funding Iraq, etc...

Buchanan (likely not "modern") was bad, but his biggest mistake was that he failed to stop a war. Bush goes around starting them, illegally. He also spies on Americans, ignores the laws of the land and defrauded voters more than once. Bush is guilty of treason just from the Plame outing and likely in more areas.

  • 2 points

    [Read the article: It's a man's world]

    1) The guy is a web programmer. Yeah, real manly. He sits on his ass all day and types. And he wrote a book. Sits on his ass all day and types. You'd think if he wanted to be "manly" in the way he describes he'd go get a job as a mechanic or in the construction or demolition industry. He'd much rather cash in on feeding paranioa and in that way he's just like the rest of the Right, whatever he says about his politics. I'm a programmer and I've never been accused of being less than "manly", but the behavior he promotes as "manly" is actually just "childish".

    2) He thinks Ross Perot was "the man"? I've been to one of Perot's speeches and the man is out of his mind. He knew people called him crazy, but went so far in acknowledging it that he had a "Crazy bus" next to him at the podium. A small school bus wiht a giant sign reading "crazy" on top. To me that was just proof he was indeed crazy.

    Yelladog,

Why would any of them sign up? Most of the current administration and Right Wing media is amde up of cowards who made excuses or used connections to get out of vietnam. One famously said "I had other priorities". Fools follow where fools lead.

    trying to get rich,

I support the troops, I want to bring them home. I want them to be given proper body armor and vehicle armor in the meantime. I want them to have medical benefits when they get back. I want them not to be treated like expendable pieces in an attempt to save face for Bush. I'm willing to pay higher taxes to do so, are you?

"why are you not out there helping them"? You mean by voluntering for the military? Because I never thought this war should have been fought. I said at the time that this was a mistake and that Bush was wrong for starting it. I'm not, nor have ever been "Pro-War" in Iraq. Lets see those who are volunteer and then I'll still be agitating for them to be supplied properly and brought home. It isn't the troops fault the man they're doing their jobs for is a criminal.
