  • Snap!

[Read the article: John Yoo -- then and now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I love it when ideologues get caught with their pants around their ankles...

  • In re Mukasey

[Read the article: Michael Mukasey's role in the Jose Padilla case]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

My fear is that this is a feint, some sort of misdirection to make us think Bush would ever make a wise decision. He hasn't ever, not in politricks, and certainly not in business.

And Elephantman (sorry about your condition), the 4th Circuit may have some competition from some other conservative districts, but is beyond all doubt the redoubt of the most antediluvian, knuckle-dragging, rock-hard jurists in the country.

  • I'm with America's Mayor (not)

[Read the article: Giuliani: 9/11 helped change my views on gun control]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

9/11 changed everything. Before that fateful day, I used to eat broccoli. No way will I ever do that again. Prior to 9/11 I never used to pick my nose. Now it's a daily ritual, and those dirty stinking terra-ists better watch out for flying boogers.

  • What's next?

[Read the article: Democratic complicity in Bush's torture regimen]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Rockefeller and Harman are worthless. Reyes appears to be no better. Pelosi should be stripped of her leadership position. Dare I begin to wonder if Alcee Hastings might just have been a better choice for the House IC chairmanship? He was next in seniority for that post IIRC.

    I'm one disgusted Democrat.

  • These are and were great men...

[Read the article: Salon's People of the Year: Sgts. Omar Mora and Yance Gray]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Their letter was more thoughtful and to the point than anything the Assministration could counter with. These two men who died should be remembered forever. I pray for the continuing recovery of the man with the grievous head injury.

My father was a staff sergeant in the Army and fought and was wounded in the Bulge. He then became a very liberal (for the most part) and preeminent scholar of Catholic philosophy. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetary. I believe he would understand these men, and would consider them heroes.

  • Don't you mean...

[Read the article: Bill Bennett knows black people]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"For sheer awkwardness Thursday night, conservative radio host, moralist and gambler Bill Bennett..."

How about *compulsive* 'gambler,' lifelong hypocrite, blowhard in extremis...

He's a cancer on the body politic of this nation.

  • One can only hope...

[Read the article: Padilla sues "Torture Memos" author John Yoo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...that Mr Yoo is held fully accountable for this. Then, bargaining for his life, let the miserable rat bring his fellows down, one by one: Addington, Cheney, Gonzalez, for as long as it takes the justice system to adjudicate this mess.

Every principle of fairness and due process has been abandoned in the past six years. Now it just means that we Americans are no longer secure in our homes or workplaces from a government that sees everything as a threat. I wouldn't give a rat's ass for our new-found "homeland security."

They can't be drummed out of office soon enough.

  • Flatlining Matthews

[Read the article: How bashing Hillary backfired]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"...suffer from the same flat learning curve as Wile E. Coyote." That is maybe the most apt way of putting it I've ever heard. I'm all for the Roadrunner to hand them all anvils as they realize there's only air beneath them.

    They're contemptible.

  • What a dick...

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I freaking hate Bob Knight. I can't say it any plainer, and I'm ashamed to make such a blanket statement of antipathy. I fucking hate him, I have for years, and hell, I hate the state of Indiana in general although I know that is totally unfair to say. I blame him.

    Fuck you, Bob.

  • Are republicans just pussies after all?

[Read the article: Radical Muslims threaten those who dissent]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Can't they just load up on plastic sheeting and duct tape?

  • Now, wait a minute...

[Read the article: Women ARE funny. And foxy!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What about Moms Mabley? What is she, chopped liver? And don't get me started on Minnie Pearl...hotness is not what I think of Moms, but I love her nonetheless.

  • Jeebus...!

[Read the article: Hallelujah, it's raining McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

God that sucks elephant balls (pun intended).

  • It's been fifteen years?

[Read the article: The album that made me a feminist]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You may think I was some creepy guy who hung around clubs at that time (still do). I was *thirty-nine* in 1993 (you can do the math), and that first Liz Phair recording was one of the most brilliant things I'd heard in a lifetime of listening to, studying, and even playing loud music that all parents traditionally loathe.

I will not give up my youth, never. In my mind, I'm still 17. I listen to 'Exile in Guyville' to this day.

  • Iranian contractors circa 480BC

[Read the article: Tom Friedman's latest declaration of war]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Don't forget the 'Persian' contractors at Thermopylae...I think that too counts as invasion.

(PS...I'm joking, stupid too, but not that stupid.)

  • What can one say...?

[Read the article: The NYT's latest Kristol embarrassment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One shouldn't have to respond to drivel such as this. As Father Stephen at my school, St Anselm's, used to pronounce..."I'm speechless...and furthermore..."

  • Uhhh, women in prison movie?

[Read the article: Why is Walters talking about Hillary Clinton's backside?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I have made a lifetime's study of women-in-prison movies. "Caged Heat," "Chained Heat..." We need more movies like these. They have always defined the American zeitgeist in its truest form.

  • To impeach or not...

[Read the article: David Broder: Embodiment of Beltway values]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It may be too late to impeach both Bush and Cheney, but I'll never stop hoping for a trial in The Hague. Or, perhaps, Spain will indict them for crimes against humanity as they did with Pinochet. That attempt didn't work but it tied the bastard up in England for quite some time.

  • Go forth, Glenn, and knock them down!

[Read the article: Campaign against warrantless eavesdropping and telecom amnesty is expanding]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm sending some of my hard-earned cash to each of these efforts (not that I've got a lot of loose cash, who does?). Steny can backtrack until he ends up his own ass.

He makes me cringe when I tell people I grew up in Maryland. There have been so many better political leaders from Maryland (Spiro notwithstanding).

  • Glenn, Glenn, Glenn...

[Read the article: Things I learned today about democracy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Come on, man. You can't expect people to pay attention to you when you're way too succinct and straightforward. Are you nuts? I'm beginning to think that air and ground pollution, and the degradation of workplace environments have us all believing that we can't have a just world much less a natural tendency toward peace, and to hell with common-sense and nobility of purpose in the pursuit of political achievement...jeez, I'm getting myself worked up again.

    Calma, calma, calma....

  • Are we talking about Maverick?

[Read the article: Wanting the White House in the worst way]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

God, maybe I'm getting old, but when I hear "Maverick," I see in my mind James Garner. Now I will let no one impugn my admiration for James Garner; at the same time, have you seen the guy lately? He's definitely fucking old...

Now, being old ain't all bad assuming you can find your ass with both hands. In McCain's case, I think that he's a total burn out. He's busy crashing the last plane he's got left to him.
