Too Much Information

"Sadly, I see the Democratic Party doing the same thing, only different."--knowbuddhau2

You are correct, sir (really)

You had me convinced before--

"Is there a manual on this somewhere?"

Thursday, March 19, 2009 08:33 AM

@DSAULW

"Has this man never heard of the minimum wage?"

He's heard all right, and he'll fight tooth and nail to ensure that it remain low enough to incentify those poor, unskilled laborers so they work to achieve that illusorous, American dream to which every one aspires.

Where the Money Blows

"CNN in general allows the Republicans to lie on the air and get away with it." SadButTrue

Careful, Fox, NBC, CBS, PBS, CNBC, etc. will feel left out.

Please refer (if you hadn't noticed the obvious imbalance of panel discussion and excessive weight given to right talking points) to recent research on political, media coverage.

The "left" is represented anemically or from a representative that is milder in scope, if possible. Contrasted by the more far-right leaning presenters, there is an inherent disadvantage for expressed, liberal thought.

Sit, if one can for example, to any of the Sunday morning shows and it's clear who has the major platform.

Only when the political coverage talking heads feel more generous some days do they forget to carry the water for the military culture, capitalism, God and Country mantra--will you see a few exceptions to what is generally a feast at the expense of left-of-center thought.

The excuses for this bias?

Why don't you know--we are a conservative nation at heart.

@mjgott

I'll take a vacation with Joan, you've got Bush or Cheney who ever's available in Canada or Wyoming-- not bad places to be.

The "Opposition" Party

"Congressional Democrats who control the Congress, obviously."--Glenn

What exactly do they oppose. I'm confused, too.

They oppose being predictably oppositional to graft, corruption and oversight, me thinks.

@DSAULW

"The new American dream: To work hard so as to ensure that Henry Paulson can live out his days in the style to which he has become accustomed."

How can we be kings when the "kings" are like us?

For examples, see fights over:

national health care

mandatory minimum wage increases

internet neutrality

gay marriage rights

...and many more "kings" vs. upwardly mobile battles to come.

That specter of "socialism" is ever ready to pounce on the victims of capitalistic evisceration.

Hear the roar of socialized losses from the "kings" (Paulsons) while the serfs shovel the coal to keep them warm.

Simple, Cogent and Direct

"If you don't want the Government telling you how much you can pay your executives, don't go to the Government begging for money."--Glenn

Why do elected lawyers, business people and prostitutes in Congress not admit this is the issue at hand?

That Libertarian viewpoint never gets the press.

It Does, but It's regarded as extraordinary fiscal theory in these trying times.

@Glenn

"...but the winning Nazi-invoker is also with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and the Hudson Institute,..."

Best tactic to obscure the secret intent of any think tank, political organization, religious advocacy purveyors and the like--(FRC-Family Research Council, anyone?)

Like "Defense of Democracies"--sounds noble and American.

"Where's the beef?"

Agreed

"And here's something I've always wondered: does the Holy Land also have Holy Air Space? Can I get me some of that? Maybe Nestlé can buy the rights and bottle it."--knowbuddhau2

In the final throws of environmental, economic and political destruction that is impending why more than half of the world's population won't see it coming and don't care if the other guy's god gets the blame.

Through the prism of-- what I think is holy-- is a tragic survey/tour of repetitive history.

@kgirl

"...if there was any chance this bill was going to force parents to turn their children over to a government sponsored leftist youth corps, would a single GOP member of Congress have voted for it?"--kgirl

Forcing parents to turn their children over to a government sponsored leftist or(rightist, military) youth corps is quite acceptable by GOP standards and is encouraged.

Promotion of hawkish, (manly/womanly?) aggression is good for the economy and ingrains the American ideal of self-preservation, inner growth and greed (I mean) benefits from capitalistic war profiting.

Don't tell anyone, though.

We "trust"

We (I) trust--

"Some people join Americorp or Vista so they can pay for college."--Rav Zeus

..that those Marxist types don't go around this country or world and use massive military might to promote their democratic ideals.

I'll glady Peace Corp and Americorp any "youth" brigade and invest them over the latter.

Love that Smell

Tel-Aviv is turned a glass parking lot,

-- Atanarjua

Not to give undue recognition to the previous "glass parking" terrain hysteria or what some might find overly dramatic--

Parallels of "Apocalypse Now" comes to mind of those who love the updated version--the smell of silicone-to-glass hearths creating new real estate for the benefit Neoconservative nation-building at the expense of Islamic civilization.

Water to Wine--Sand to Glass

"...unbelievably enabling Israel's enemies to realize their drams of inflicting mass death on the Jewish homeland.

It's sickening beyond belief."

With all those in the nuclear club who have rights to remake the sand into glass (list them)--

"Just In"-- Israel has been found to possess the bomb. This is news?

Presumption--

Rule One: Existing club members alone may determine who's eligible for joining.

If you're grandfathered in, we presume you're already acting responsibly with the privilege of wielding the nuclear arsenal arsenal (whatever its scope).

What dreams are made of!

America's Exceptional Moral Compass

"... or the conservatives who urged that America stand firm against the "religion of peace??"

-A

-- Atanarjuat

Ain't that right. America as an experimental democracy is a religion, too.

We spread peace just like those theo-centric Islamists--but with a zeal of organized, military expenditure that only a misile-envy terrorist would die for.

Glad "-A" is in the loop. Your patriotism is outstanding and stands without exception.

Explains a Lot

"What kind of weird full moon is there today?"

Why the howl of beckoning for blood is so profuse this day from the anti-Red fear mongers?

Guilty

"How come no dialog? There was more at the movie review."--calamine

I plead such.

Submit this as evidence.
