Female Dem Who Can't Stand Clinton

I challenge the premise of this article that Clinton is popular among women voters. I can't stand the woman. I think that women of my age, that is, older women, see her for a gutless fraud. While we were "sticking our necks out" in the battle for equal opportunity, Mrs. Clinton took the short cut to power. She married it. Now, she is merely leveraging her personal relationship with a powerful man to get power. That might now be so bad if she had even an iota of creativity and courage. She and Bush are on the same level when measured by these two criteria, however. If she is elected president, she will be an unmitigated disaster.

Why Steal When the USPTO Wants to Give High Tech Away

It is so typical of the double speak, double act of the Bush administration that while it is decrying stealing of technology by other countries, the United States Patent Office is about to implement a "cram down" of new rules so draconian that entire areas of emerging technology will be undermined, if not outright destroyed. I won't bore readers with the details but the impact of the new rules, as desired by the PTO,will be the following: hundreds of thousands of patent applications will be abandoned in the next 6 months because the rules have retroactive effect. Some of the applications probably should go abandoned but many of the lost cases would have provided critical protection for novel and unobvious medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics, alternative energy technology, and so on. The new rules will require us to craft very narrow claims. These are fine for derivative and improvement technology but are deadly for cutting edge technology because they are easy to design around.

My clients at greatest risk are US high tech start-ups.

Today, Glaxo Smith Kline filed suit against the PTO to enjoin it from implementing the new rules. Patent practitioners and companies other than IBM, Microsoft, and Intel pray that it is successful

Everyone Who Finishes a Marathon "Staggers" Across the Finish Line

A marathon is about 6.2 miles longer than a typical human being's ability to race. That is why runners "hit the wall." Phidippides died running it from Marathan to Athens. Yesterday, very sadly, Ryan Shays died running the marathon in an Olympic trial.

The race is sufficiently long and hard that anything can happen--runners get cramps, nausea, strains, fractures, and so forth. I've run about 40 marathons and abou 30 ultramarathons. Each one is different and is an adventure. I am not an elite runner, by a long shot, but I can finish an ultra closer to the front of the pack than a marathon.

Like many posting here, I run for stress relief and for my health, not to win races. I run races for documentation of performance. Am I getting faster or slower?

I know that I am not going to win a marathon and I want to be sure to stay out of the way of those having a chance. Footraces from the 5K to the ultra are one of the very few sports where people of many abilities can put themselves to the test and stretch their human abilities. As many others have said, this is the kind of sport desperately needed in the US right now, if we are going to break out of the stereotype of the fat, greedy, stupid, spoiled, ugly American.

Thanks for Continuing Waterboard Coverage

Keith Oberman gave a terrific comment on the use of torture by Bushco tonight.

Every decent thing about our government is under attack by these monsters.

Thank You for Another Brilliant Article

The breadth of damage done by this fool will profoundly impact the life of every American. The payback is just beginning. I do not think we will come out as well as Great Britain did in its decline.

The More I Learn about Obama, the Better I Like Him

It would be so refreshing to have a president who is smart, thoughtful, moral, fresh, and courageous.

Check out the Huffington Post for Coverage of the Debate Tonight

You won't find it on Salon.com...perhaps because Obama and Edwards did very well and raised a lot of issues many of us have been wondering about.

I have seen plenty of comments by readers critical of Clinton on this website but I have never seen an article critical of her. There is a Huffington article tonight referring to Clinton as the "Queen of Hearts."

I think that Salon writers are solidly in the Clinton camp and they should just come out and state that.

Hell Yes--Whites Will Vote for Obama

I will vote for Obama or Edwards but not Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton have showed their true colors in the past couple of weeks and they are not pretty. I have lost all respect for the Mr. and feel only revulsion for the Mrs. Their political strategy is to try to marginalize Obama by labeling him as a "Black" candidate--divide and conquer.

Obama has the makings of a great president--a person who can focus on what we have in common not our differences. We need that kind of person to tackle the overwhelming problems we face.

I believe that Clinton wants to be president to get back at her political enemies, of which there are many. We have no idea of her management style because she has never actually managed anything except her campaign. At this point, the only difference I see between her and Bush is that she can speak in complete sentences. We cannot afford one day more of this crap, much less than 4 more years!
