Up to 2001, I could not understand how it was that one of the most advanced cultures on earth, the German culture, could succumb to the Nazis and live with, if not actively participate in, the Holocaust. I did not think that something like that could ever happen here because Americans would fight for preservation of their freedoms and to maintain a government of some integrity, irrespective of whether they were left leaning or right leaning.

I was wrong. Our government is a stinking cesspool of lies, greed, and contempt for citizens of our country. Our freedoms are going, going, gone. Citizens are passively letting it happen, drugged by a corporate media matrix or religious crackpot theologies.

I am getting the hell out of here while I still can.

Several of my brothers still live in this Congressional district. One of them is a staunch Republican but he is as sickened as I am by the Republican's actions under the Bush administration. I do not think he will be voting for Gutknecht or any other Republican.

How can you tell what Bush is saying? He doesn't speak in complete sentences. He doesn't articulate intelligent thoughts.

I read about it and I see it... middle class young women who think the way to fame and fortune is to expose their lady parts for the world to see or spread their legs for any pig with money. It will be interesting to see how these women counsel their daughters when they come home crying because their boss felt them up and told them it was a condition of their employment. While these women were "getting busy" laws will revert back to the 1950's and '60's. Their daughters will be treated in the manner their mothers acted...like a bunch of whores.

That FOX News cut her off may be a sign that even her own constutuency has concluded she is crazy.

If yes, great!! It is one more seat that the democrats can take. The e-mails were creepy and inappropriate in the context that they were sent. If democrats can use that to their advantage, they would be fools not to do so.

Utah, outside of Salt Lake City, is a Christian theocracy. Gentiles, those who are not Morman, are outsiders. As a fundamentalist Christian, you will generally be treated with kindness and respect due a non-believer, but you will never be allowed to forget that you are not one of the faithful. You will have a difficult time getting a good job. Your kids will be ostracized in school for not being Morman. Most all of their teachers will be Morman and within a couple of years of public school, your kids will know more about Mormanism than your own religion. You will be shut out of the local culture because you do not go to the one and only true church. The people representing you in local, state and national government believe as you do, that "God" wanted them to be in government and that they represent the chosen people, which does not include you.

I'd like to say, get your head out of the bible and into a history book but it would be pointless. Your postings indicate that you are a poster child of religious fundamentalism--you want to be told what to do and would be a lot happier with a dictatorship than in a democracy.

One other redeeming quality of Nixon is that Native Americans regard him as being the only president ever to honor his word. Nixon supported a policy that actually gave Native Americans sovereignty, not just lip service.

I never thought I'd be defending Nixon in any way, (under his administration, I was wire-tapped) but Nixon looks good compared to the neanderthal currently in office.

Pakistan has large populations of both Sunni and Shia moslems and could be torn apart as factions within Pakistan support their counterparts in the Middle East. Who knows which group in that mix would gain control of Pakistan's nuclear bomb technology.

Also, Iran, Pakistan, India, Russia, and China have a pact, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, whereby each member agrees to cooperate in matters of trade, science, technology, humanitarian projects, and terrorism. The dumbass in chief has gotten us into a "real pickle" which could lead to a world war. At the very least, he has put our entire society at risk by making Iraq the cornerstone of our energy policy.
