Baffling us with BS again.........................
[Read the article: "Nazis" and "Hitler" -- the Right's casual, trivializing political insults]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think we’re being duped by the right-wing as we speak. After all, one of their favorite tactics to use when they’re trying to pull off a fast one (such as in start another war) is to distract us with BS so we don’t notice what they’re up to. Right now, while we banter about who has the right to use the terms “Nazi” and “Hitler” when name-calling, the bush administration is in the process of starting another war, this time with Iran (actually, “with” is the wrong word to use – “against” fits better since Iran has no desire to go to war with us). So, while we argue about why it’s okay for the right-wing to call us Nazi’s, but not okay for us to do the same to them, the U.S. and Israel are gearing up to attack Iran, possibly with nuclear weapons. Then, if (or should I say, when) Iran retaliates in like-kind with nuclear weapons aimed at our mainland, bush will have all the excuse he needs to put the U.S. under military rule and then delay the 2008 election. This may sound far-fetched to many (since that’s what they’re banking on), but one thing is certain, bush has managed to anoint himself with the power to be able to do just such a thing. And, even if he didn’t anoint himself with that power, his signing statements (all 750+ of them) on new laws effectively say that he will decide whether or not to obey or enforce the new laws. The goal of the republicans is to have a permanent republican majority. I’ve heard more than one right-wing pundit (ann coulter comes to mind) say that bush ought to round up all the liberals and kill them. These people aren’t even hiding their true colors. That, in itself, is a tactic. When we hear things that sound so extreme, we have a tendency to dismiss them, but I’m starting to believe they really mean it. These people really believe the vile things they say about liberals and have painted us as evil in their piddling little minds. We’ve let the ignorant and prejudiced have their day and they’re going to take us all down with the ship.

Note to Kickstarts
[Read the article: The Decider has decided]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Since not even half of America is registered to vote and of those who are registered, only a nominal number actually vote, you might be a little off on your statistics. The majority of those that do vote, voted for Gore during 2000. And if you added back in all the disenfranchised voters, Gore would have probably won by a large margin. But the presidency is not won by popular vote, but by electoral votes (something which I hope goes by the wayside sooner rather than later). Insofar as 2004 is concerned, there is no doubt in my mind that the results of that election were tinkered with by the republicans. The scary thing is that the same thing could happen again in 2008 no matter what we do at this point in time, since there wouldn't be enough time to implement any changes to voting requirements. If the republicans were on the up-and-up, they wouldn't be so vehemently protesting recounts, trying to implement voting ID laws that will make it difficult for many people to vote, or ignoring conflicts of interest with the electronic voting machine manufacturers. And they wouldn't be trying to disenfranchise voters who tend to vote for democrats or using U.S. attorneys to go after democratic candidates right before an election in order to make them lose. From what I can tell, you never hear of democrats trying to disenfranchise voters, only republicans. They want a permanent republican majority, and they will use whatever underhanded, immoral or illegal means they can to get there!

Our Children or Blackwater, Now let me see......
[Read the article: Right-wing bullies pick on children]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why would we want to even think of trying to provide healthcare for more than just the poorest of the poor children in this country, or trying to truly upgrade the levies in New Orleans, when we could be sending that money to the war profiteers such as Blackwater in Iraq? If you haven't already done so, everyone should read the article in the November 2007 issue of Vanity Fair titled "The People vs. the Profiteers" written by David Rose. After reading that article, you realize how truly hideous bush's veto of children's healthcare really is.
This administration won't even let fraud investigations go forward against these private war profiting mercenaries, even though they've wasted more tax dollars than would be needed to fund children's healthcare and rebuild New Orleans' levies. It's funny that bush doesn't for one minute worry about the deficit his whole time in office until the children's healthcare issue comes up. Bush's words are always so hollow and meaningless -- it is his actions that reveal his true colors.

The Coup is already in Progress
[Read the article: It was a joke (we think)]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Note to jebldmm:
The coup is already in full progress. Suspending the election due to a national emergency would just be the culmination of the plan. They've already set the stage for this happening in the Military Commissions Act. We now know that the Bush administration started meeting with the Telcos in February of 2001 regarding their cooperation with the government in monitoring communications of U.S. citizens without a warrant since this was brought to light in the testimony of the CEO of Qwest (one of the few Telcos that did not cooperate with the Bush administration regarding violating its customers' privacy, not to mention the Constitution). The implications of this should be making everyone's heads spin, but so far it seems like it's being shrugged off. If the Bush administration was meeting with the Telcos about surveillance of communications in February of 2001 -- a full 7 months before 9/11 -- then he can't use "protecting us from terrorism" as the excuse for doing so. No, the coup began on January 9, 2001.
