a few years back Scientific American highlighted a study by the geneticists who had isolated a unique gene in the Dog that was found nowhere else among the species of the planet earth.

After 40k years of domestication, the Doggies of the Dog Kingdom acquired a gene that served no other purpose than that of serving Dog's Best Friend ... first at the door to greet Daddy home from work ... even before the kiddies; a gene with no other purpose other than to please his Master.

When Dogs & Men eyeball each other they both understand who is who & what is what .... tail wagging, tongue lapping, drool driping ....

Meanwhile its rumored that after 110k years of Domestication that the parallel gene of the female human species lags somewhat behind that of the gene isolated in Dogs ... but not by much.

Think of the possibilities in the fast advancing century of genetic engineering !!!

That beautiful gene ... wholly absent in such worthless alternative house pet creatures as Goldfish, Turtles, Cats, Ant Farm inhabitants, etc.
