[Read more letters about this article: Here]He killed his "Ralph Nader for President" post after just 100 hours -- a lip-service post that quickly drew over 100 letters before being 'buried' while a number of other readerless pieces of pungent fruit were left to rot out on the Saloon Limb.
WHY ?? -- perhaps because herr koppelman's runty corner of the Left is comfortable in reinforcing our present Two-Party Dictatorship -- while squashing out all other Voices; the Ends justifying the Means -- and all dat.
Ralph Nader's entry into the National Presidential scene began in 1972 with a Draft Nader article in --- I'm fairly certain --- Esquire Magazine. The 18-year olds had just been given the right to vote with a Constitutional amendment, and many a boomer flocked to his cause. The "write-in-candidate" option was, at the time, available in all 50 states --- this, afterall, being America, and all. The 2 Dictatorates have been chipping away at this freedom for decades.
Nader pumped every penny he earned into his cause for The People; no auto to bless his modest apartment stall; cheap black & white suites absent the designer slave-labor labels that now proliferate. Arab ancestry or not, Nader's been the only true blue American McCoy to run for office. Meanwhile rascally dim-wits like Bush Junior and fat slobs like Al Gore and the Ever-Crafty-Clinton Duet raked clean the Imperial City.
After 2000 the Democrats had the opportunity to take a sober pause and clean up their money-grubbing antics. But rather than adopt the 'Noisy Naderites' into their family and listen to how they might help them clean up their act and become a respectable party once again, they turned on him with a vengeance; a Destroy-The-Enemy campaign most recently witnessed in the Machine's attempt to turn Obama into South Carolina roadkill.
(one of McCain's redeeming qualities is the fact that in a quarter century he's NEVER taken pork home while all the Blue & Red Porkies were busy snorting slop from the bucket)
When the ruling half-century Democrat Party Machine of my own state was given responsibility for overseeing the 2004 drive to get Nader on the ballot, boxes and boxes of signature lists simply vanished. By election-day 2004 when Ralph had just come up short of the qualifying number, many a Sharpie followed a Nader voter into the booth. Democrats were not going to force feed any True Blue Independent. The modern Democrat & Republican hierarchies are corrupt money-hungry, power hungry Doppelganger Twins of one another.
Why the baby-boomer Lurch toward Nader after 1972 ?? --- because of clean water & seat-belts & et cetera ??? -- well --- yup, but for 4 decades Nader's over-riding #1 Issue has been the DIRTY MONEY that has bought up Washington DC and destroyed Democracy. We're in an 1880s reduxe, lest nobody noticed.
Ralph Nader had been the only honorable and legitimate candidate in the 2000 and 2004 elections. Any losses by either the Republican or Democrat slobs was the fault of the American Crud that continues to vote Big Labor, Big Business, Big Government and Big Money back into office.
Third Party candidates have always served the public by pressing the 2 Big Daddy Warbucks entities to Clean their Houses. You don't want an Alito or Bader-Ginsberg on the Court, then get on it and clean the Stinking Filth outta yer stalls.
Whether Well-Meaning Bubble-Heads on the Left or Bibble-Thumping Corporate Buccaneers on the Right, both Rank & File memberships ought to listen up clearly to those who cast their favor for the Roger McBrides, the John Andersons, the Ross Perots, the Ron Pauls or the Ralph Naders.
Historically this nation has long been split 50/50% in the Left-Right vote count, your respective Party Leaders know that your votes are as dependable as Cows being led about with Rings in their noses.
It has always been those of us in the Screaming Radical Far Center that have won or lost every election in memory. We don't like your two parties, we don't trust your two parties. And until you stop your $hennanigans, --- we wishes a Pox on both of your Houses.
