  • lets get to the real heart of the matter

It is funny how we are all arguing over parts of this debate, yet all ignoring the fact that the most important part of this primary campaign was seen last night.

It came at the end, and it has been largely ignored. I think this is the most important part, because it cuts to what this primary is really all about, and the different perspectives on leadership that the candidates have. I think the last question gave us the best real insight into what each of these candidates would be like as president.

So I will re print it here (I cut the fat but left the meat….To see the full quotes: (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/21/debate.transcript3/index.html). I will not make a judgment, but leave it to you, which you would prefer in a president:

Question: If Dr. Martin Luther King were alive today, unfortunately, he's not, but if he were alive today, why do you think he would or why should he endorse you?

EDWARDS: For two reasons. One is that.........two biggest issues that Dr. King stood for, which are the issues of equality and ending poverty in America....... I mean, I have been pushing this issue as aggressively and as loudly as I possibly can and I will do it as long as I'm alive, because it is central to what I believe.

OBAMA: Well, I don't think Dr. King would endorse any of us. I think what he would call upon the American people to do is to hold us accountable, and this goes to the core differences, I think, in this campaign.................

I believe change does not happen from the top down. It happens from the bottom up.

So that has been a hallmark of my career, transparency and accountability, getting the American people involved. That's how we're going to bring about change. That's why I want to be president of the United States, to respect the power of the American people to bring about change.

    CLINTON:

......And then there was a meeting of morality and politics. And the political leaders finally responded.

The American people should not have to work so hard to get leaders who will actually help them and recognize we are strongest when we lead by our values. Dr. King transformed the lives of so many of us, and I intend to do whatever I can to make his legacy real in the lives of Americans.

Don't blame Nader, at least he ran on conviction

If Gore had not been running as Bush Jr. maybe he would have won (lets not let our memories get twisted, go to the video, Gore sucked)and as far as Iraq was concerned:

    air strike 26 Jun 1993

cruise missile strike 13 Jan 1993

cruise missile strike 17 Jan 1993

OPERATION DESERT STRIKE 03 Sep 1996

    OPERATION DESERT THUNDER Feb 1998

    OPERATION DESERT VIPER Nov 1998

OPERATION DESERT FOX 16 Dec 1998

With continues sanctions, and the Iraq liberation act of 1998....

Wonder how different Gore would have been? Maybe just crippling sanctions and a few bombings...like the good ol'days..poor Iraqi bas%$ards

I'm 27 and I can hardly remember a world without a Bush or Clinton in the Whitehouse, because I was in 3rd grade.

I think the baby boomers are annoying.

I am sick of their culture wars, we outgrew them! they have not...so let us take over, since apparently we are more mature.

Yes we want unity in America! You know why? because there is not just 2 americans....there are several...and they ALL HATE EACH OTHER!

This is not about getting a democrat in the whitehouse..this is not about getting even with the republican party...this is not about BS...this is not about YOU. THIS IS ABOUT AMERICA! An america that is canabalizing itself.

    I know that...

the difference to me is that I believe that Obama is will not use force for stupid reasons, but use it correctly

BTW: 5 million still dead in the Congo...Somalia still in anarchy and a terrorist base...800k Rwandans are still dead...

But bombing an asprin factory in Sudan sure did a lot of good. Yes ser ey.

    Ya, what about it?

It sound perfectly insightful? Is there now something wrong with being insightful?

You are posting something, and saying it says something that it doesn't say...but I can't argue with it because the whole argument is in your imagination

    1. The senator from New York gets an endorsement from the the New York Times! No Way...I never would have thunk it.

    2. What experience, for the 100000 time? It is starting to just feel like a lie that gets repeated so much that it became true.

1/2 the people who I've spoken to who are voting for her cite that as THE REASON! To bring Bill back....

if its media spin...they are playing into it, that is for sure.

and if they were not "co-presidents" in the 90s...where did Clinton get her executive experience we hear soooo much of? Isn't that why she is ready on day one?
