Devastating Divorce

I don't have a lot to add, just that I, too, was in love with their relationship. He loved the h*ll out of her! And she is a force of nature. I mean, how often does that happen? I was just stunned when I heard the news. It's obviously none of my business, but I felt invested in them and I want to know what's going on! They felt like friends and I want to help get them back together! Please keep us posted...

Colts fans agreee....WHAT?!!!

I was in the RCA dome on Sunday and I can assure you not one Colts fan there thought that the interception would be overturned. When they called it incomplete, there was noticeable disbelief, coupled with a reaction of "Good lord, snap the ball before they realize their mistake!"

But I have to say, there were more than a few bad calls during that game, some in the Steelers favor, some the Colts. I don't have an answer to how to solve that. It's just sickening in playoff games. Though I would have loved for the Colts to win (even though they sure didn't deserve it), it would have been pretty hollow if the win came because of rotten officiating.

Original article: Refuge in "Bleak House"

Gillian Anderson had me at "bored"!

I giggled with delight when I saw the headline of this article. This mini series has become my (not very well kept) secret obessession since I watched the first 5 minutes! S.Z. is right, it is fun watching the show in weekly installments...the anticipation of what happens next keeps the story spinning through my thoughts all week. And the acting! I can almost not bear to watch my other TV favorites because Bleak House is so superior. To those late to the show, do yourself a favor and just buy it in a few weeks...you won't be sorry. It's the best, most interesting and fun TV I've seen in years!

Original article: Run, Elizabeth, run

Let people make their own decisions!

I really cannot understand this discussion. Since when are we supposed to tell everyone how to run their lives? As I was watching the 60 Minutes interview, I kept thinking, "Why is Katie Couric badgering them? What answer is she trying to get?" I was completley confused by why she even bothered to interview them. Why didn't she just come on TV and say, "Here's what the Edwardses should do..."

I thought Elizabeth Edwards had the best line when she said something like, "Do I really want my Legacy to be denying this country of a great President?" Haha. Good for you! I hope this wonderful woman lives a good, long time.

Candidates in a Bind....

First of all, I loved this debate. Even though the topics were narrowly-focused (to be expected), I really liked the 15 solid minutes apiece with the candidates. I seemed to get a better feel for them with more time.

Despite my being hetero, I couldn't be more "Gravellian" in my full support of gay marriage (if you saw the debate, you'll know what I mean). AND...I appreciate the bind the candidates are in when they express their lack of support for gay "marriage".

When the Democrats backed civil rights in the 1960's (the absolute right thing to do), they lost the government for 30+ years. I'm concerned that will happen if we pass gay "marriage". I can see a first step as civil unions, which convey the exact same benefits of marriage - without the word. I agree that it's riduculous, but once people who oppose it see that gay civil unions are not tearing the country apart, only then will they be more accepting of gay "marriage". It's a strategy that could work.

I hope the gay community can accept incremental steps, despite how frustrating and unfair it is. We'll definitely get there, but it's important to make sure we keep moving in the right direction first.

Campbell.....of COURSE there's sexism!

I almost wish Clinton would have responded to Campbell's "boy's club" comment with, "Hey Campbell, look around, would ya? Do you see any chicks up here? Have you EVER seen any women in this setting? It IS a boy's club!" It's so obvious it hardly needs to be pointed out.

The Senate has 16% female members, the House, 17%. That's pathetic for a country of over 50% women. Unfortunately, men are still in charge, and they will not go quitely into that dark night. Like everyone with power, they will hold on with all they've got.

I finally figured out why the hatred of Hillary. It's hatred of women. We're fine, unless we ask for more. Which is why, despite any reservations I might have about Hillary's positions, I am backing her 100%. The men will never invite women. We'll need to storm the party, and they'll just have to adjust.

The most important thing...

I don't know or care who the republicans like, they will never vote for a democrat. Period.

What I DO care about is who can get elected? Hillary has her much over-discussed negatives, but...do you really, truly, honestly think this country (and I mean the WHOLE country, not the more educated coast-dwellers) are willing to elect a black man? President???

I like all of the democratic hopefuls (kudos to Chris Dodd this week, by the way), but what I care about more than anything else is: the democrat MUST win. MUST! I can't take another 4 years of republican rule, and neither can this country.

I think Obama is great, but I cannot imagine a scenario where a plurality of Americans agree. We need to start by getting back the government, then we can push leftward.

May the most electable person be nominated...
