see, now you're stuck

if you shut down this column, you're going to be lambasted as "censoring the voices of conservatism" or some such.

and if you don't, we'll apparently now be treated to another series of dispatches from fantasyland, where "global climate change extremists" are anti-science and threaten our Way Of Life.

Is there nothing the rightwingnuts can't find threatening to the republic? I look back nostalgically to the old days, when a threat to the republic was the president refusing to tell the other boys the details of his blowjob. now, the fabric of reality is a threat to the US and it's reliance on faith-based physical sciences.

science education in america has apparently failed. and the media isn't helping.

"carbon dioxide is not a pollutant - if we emit more CO2 then won't plants simply grow more vigorously?"

yes, of course. if the dreams of the conservanuts come true and all the CO2 is absorbed by the oceans rather than hanging around the atmosphere changing the climate, then the fish will just have more fun, swimming around in bubbly seltzer!

oh, mr. cheney

isn't it time to go hide in your secure undisclosed location again? can't be too secure.

oh well, maybe in one of his blabber spells the details of his energy task force will come out.

Original article: Houston pulls a Palin

pay for police

of course.

a couple of years ago i tried to contest a traffic ticket. time passes. i get a notice that i've failed to appear in court and my license is about to be revoked. i can either pay the original fine or reopen the case. they had sent the notice of court date to what appears to be a completely random address in a town i've never set foot in. "where did you get this address?" shrug. costs $60 to reopen the case. doesn't matter that they sent it to the wrong address. i reopen the case. the ticket is dismissed. i'm not guilty but out $60. Next!

if it were me

i'd decline the kit and spend the $2k on a big thug to exact revenge. seeing as the govt is apparently deciding that it's not their business to get involved for nothing.

more God on Trek

don't forget the episode which ends with (approximately; and I don't remember who spoke what line)

"You know, it's unusual for such an advanced culture to be Sun worshippers."

"This explains it; our translator made an error. What they actually said is that they worship the Son."

"Ah."

Everybody nods thoughtfully.

Credits.

"But what's to be gained by putting some of these Bush people on trial?"

Regain some of our lost credibility among other nations.

excuse me

I believe protocol requires that the Republican Party apologize for putting its face in the way of the former Vice President's shotgun volleys.

if "I only hear or read about it from the liberal media"

then why are you parroting official rightwing fantasy verbatim?

So, what happens if you start with 65 year olds and look at mortality after that? We show up as roughly equal to Canada

Entirely true. The stats show that the US healthcare system is worst at birth and gets progressively better as you age, until around 70-80 years of age we do become the best in the world. And, of course, that best in the world care is supplied by Medicare, i.e. single payer socialized medicine.
