Original article: "I find her offensive"

imagine

a video of Obama being magically protected against witchcraft by an African holy man, who incidentally goes on to slur the Israelites. The republicans would have that on every channel 24 hours a day.

has palin ever actually met a jew?

i assume she might have met lieberman by now, but as mayor of wasilla, governor of alaska, or member of her church i would imagine the number of jews she became familiar with was pretty low. black people, too.

Original article: One-eyed modesty

it's not the eye(s)

it's that sexy burka. the way it emphasizes the pyramidal shape of the body. the way it's round on top, showing off the contours of the skull. Oh baby!

Original article: The dumbing down of the GOP

at some point the dumbpublicans have to realize

that in fact, it's Palin who's parodying them. She's a gimlet eyed political shark made of solid ambition, not somebody chosen for their talent or ability; and this wide-eyed "gee whillikers, God bless, I'm just a simple citizen with commomn sense" act is how she sees her base.

can i call you salon?

"Is there some special insanity that causes people to want to abuse the judicial process?"

Look at it this way; it's a major improvement over having them grab a gun and make their own "justice".

some maverick

i'm a maverick; follow me! hey, don't go too far in the direction i've pointed you in, follow me! I'm the maverick, not you! settle down and stay in line behind me, i'm a maverick!"

Original article: No time to cry wolf

but what we're all thinking is

can you put lipstick on a wolf?

Original article: I Like to Watch

yeah i see what you mean

about crash. i didn't see the movie, but i did like the other one with james spader and all those folks. that would make an interesting series.

but this one seems to just go out of its way to piss off the viewer. if it weren't for Hopper it's be a total loss.

clean coal is the camel's nose under the tent

as another poster noted, when it comes to implementing a project, it just disappears. but meanwhile, the coal industry gets to move forward as our future source of energy. and tapping into our coal reserves will probably take the climate to the tipping point, because it's clear at this point that we're not going to badck off any source of energy, particularly one that's profitable.

petroleum, on the other hand, we've already written off; it's quite clear we're going to extract and burn every drop of petroleum there is, and any rational assessment of future climate takes that into account. fuel efficiency standards, etc. don't make a bit of difference, because the carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere for about 5,000 years, so it doesn't make that much difference in the bigger picture whether we get it all up into the air in the next 10 years or the next 100.

but start relying on coal instead of starting with carbon-neutral energy, and we're screwed.

i'm more qualified than anybody.

i was not only president of my junior high, but also prime minister in the high school junior parliament.

Sunday, October 19, 2008 10:03 PM

well i'm back from gagging

boy, you can never have too low an opinion of the republican brain trust. they'd have to climb a ladder to see the underside of a worm.

"Just ask if Obama would be where he is at if he were a white man. The answer is inevitable."

Yes. it depends on whether his family comes from the hereditary American peerage, like the current Resident.

it's all about race

military leaders who have come out for Obama (that i know about):

Brigadier General Larry Gillespie

Major General Scott Gration (USAF-Ret)

Admiral Don Guter

Brigadier General David “Dave” McGinnis

General Merrill “Tony” McPeak

Admiral John B. Nathman

Major General Hugh Robinson

Brigadier General James Smith

Admiral Robert “Willie” Williamson (USN-Ret Rear Admiral)

Major General Ralph Wooten

It must be that they're all black, why else would Limbaugh say it's all about race for Powell?

Tuesday, October 21, 2008 11:33 AM

did i say race?

i meant military. it's all those military warmongers who are lining up for obama, not just Powell:

Brigadier General Larry Gillespie

Major General Scott Gration (USAF-Ret)

Admiral Don Guter

Brigadier General David “Dave” McGinnis

General Merrill “Tony” McPeak

Admiral John B. Nathman

Major General Hugh Robinson

Brigadier General James Smith

Admiral Robert “Willie” Williamson (USN-Ret Rear Admiral)

Major General Ralph Wooten

remember, a vote for McCain is a vote to continue the Republican's 8 year destruction of America's military, and thereby end imperial America.

hmmm

that could be the new name for Alaska when the Palins head its secession; Vulgaria!

words you don't hear from mccain, or obama

torture. guantanamo. abu ghraib. extraordinary rendition. highest level endorsement of war crimes and violations of human rights. forced confessions. beating deaths of prisoners.

disappointing, isn't it?

too bad the Usual Self-Proclaimed Righteous Christians don't generally come here, other than extreme nutbars, because I'd like to hear how it is that they believe their Just Lord will protect them from divine retribution? how they could reconcile the Biblical destruction of so many unjust nations with a faith that God will pull us out of the current social/financial/civic disaster?

normally i wouldn't be disappointed in a republican ignoring the matter, but a person can still hope that mccain would have a bit more integrity in the matter. i know better, but somebody might still have illusions. but obama and the democrats' obvious decision to not address the screaming evidence of the complete amorality of the administration they are trying to replace is sad. understandable, in that half the voters obviously share that complete amorality, but sad.

and ironic, in juxtaposition with the review of the usual Stephen King apocalyptic work, on the same page.

i know it's been said, many times, many ways

the rightwing's way beyond satire at this point.

"It appears that the image is actually originally the product of a Democrat, Tim Kastelein, who says he intended it to poke fun at conservative pundits afraid of Obama."
