Now the Norm

Glenn, thank you for reminding us of what, indeed, now is considered unremarkable in our country.

I know that many blogs have encouraged their readers to write to Pelosi and Conyers urging impeachment, but I hope that your article will again be a call to let our representatives know that we will not accept their dereliction of duty a single day longer. Impeachment hearings are the only avenue we have to require Bush to produce documents and witnesses without his constant cries of 'Executive Privilege'.

I have a torch. Do you have a pitchfork? I'm afraid that our calls and emails will not have the necessary effect.

Congress is afraid that Caesar or his minions will nail their collective hands to the Senate door if they make a meaningful attempt to curtail his lawless acts or to actually bring him and his administration to account. I think we must somehow make them more afraid of We the People than of George W. Bush.

How many want to stay

Why don't we start using visual aids? Hold up the poll results or a chart? Then tell Cokie she is lying.

rent-a-generals

Our troops are being used as Bush's human shields.

Too much of a good thing

Peter Jackson fell into the same trap with LOTR. He must have fallen under the spell of the Ring.

Gregory

Yes, David Gregory was definitely defensive yesterday. I'd like to see a link to his dancing and rapping with Karl Rove again.

Glenn is correct, Williams, Russert, Gregory et al are performers, Anchortainers.

MSM

I guess the Bush administration will have to ensure another "wrenching" event to serve as a cover for the baseless attack on Iran that is coming down the pipeline. That way they can be sure that the MSM won't be "unnecessarily adversarial" toward them in their coverage. What a crock. Their protestations make me want to puke.

Dictator-Tot

And from Ricardo Sanchez's book we learn that Bush advocated killing anyone who stands in the way of our spread of democracy. Sounds like we are trying to establish a caliphate across the middle east. An American Crescent, if you will.

To Nancy Pelosi

Two words: Bull.Shit.

and then we'll fry

I'm afraid, Andrew, that that is exactly what we will do: exploit our environment for the easy, quick fix. Drill for every last ounce of oil, dig up every mountain and dump it into the rivers below in order to burn more filthy coal, and plow under food crops so that ADM can make millions on corn ethanol that is less energy efficient to produce than the fuel that switchgrass would provide. Then we'll bomb anyone, anywhere who tries to get between us and the petroleum and gas that remains in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Central Asia. We will squander the chance to use remaining petroleum wisely as we develop clean alternitive energy sources and lead the world in clean, green technology, save the planet and become a less hubristic, consuming nation. And then we'll fry.

deniers must be stopped

It is essential that we elect veto-proof progressive majorities in both the House and the Senate. I am volunteering for Andrew Rice, who is running against James Inhofe, Dinosaur from Oklahoma.

It is even more important that progressives who understand this issue educate the public. That 75% of conservatives must be made to understand the severity and imminence of this threat. James Hansen of NASA has been speaking out, but I'm not sure if the MSM is giving him much coverage. I heard him on NPR's Diane Rhem Show, but I'd be willing to wager that FOX hasn't invited him to speak.

Not merely bowing

The Dems then (most of them, excluding Feingold, Dodd, Leahy and a few others, thank you, true Senators!) promptly rolled over on their backs with their legs in the air, soft underbellies exposed in submission, whimpering, "Just don't hurt me!"

How does it feel to be the Omega dogs, you that voted for this piece of Bush garbage? We are doing everything in our power to unite and throw your sorry asses out of your seats come November. Think you can take an axe to the 4th Amendment and get away with it? You'd better think again. Bush may be your master, but we pay for your cushy health insurance and pensions, and we are sick of you stabbing us in the back for this criminal administration. Hope you don't have any pre-existing conditions, because if you do, next year you are going to be friggin' working 3 jobs to pay your medical bills, just like the rest of us.

Pathetic, simply pathetic.

Faux Feminist

Your term 'faux feminist' gave me an idea for shirts and buttons at my cafepress shop: Sarah Palin, Fauxminist.

Wonderful article. I have sent to many friends, thank you.

Original article: Correction on Sarah Palin

McCain's eyes

I haven't had time to read the comments so please forgive me if others have said this. There is a distinct difference in the two videos in that in the first McCain spends most of the time looking straight ahead into the camera while speaking, in the second he only briefly looks forward. The eyelid and drifting eye are less apparent when viewed from an angle than from straight on. It appeared that he was being coached or reminded to look to the sides. I, too, am concerned.

Original article: Correction on Sarah Palin

No sympathy

She has earned none. The wolves, moose, rape victims and those special needs families who aid was cut by Palin have mine.

BTW, I shudder to think who her top advisors will be as VP or, gods forbid, President. She will be a tool of the religious right and neocons. Palin/McCain are elected at our great peril.

consequences

John McCain says he has made plenty of mistakes and accepts the consequences without complaint. Well, he is not the only one who will be forced to live with the consequences of this one, if the Palin/McCain ticket prevails.

It was frighteningly obvious from day one that Palin was a trainwreck of a mayor, governor and mother. We ought all to be out in the streets demanding that he drop her from the ticket immediately.
