@mikebuzz

I want to be reasonable Mike because I am genuinely interested in health care for all. I am not always reasonable, but health care is something we all need to have a say in, it will be the only way to reform the system correctly. Obviously you know yourself yelling and following decrees from corporate pamphlets won't get the job done, but we could be allied together, to take Health Care away from heavily bureaucratized insurance companies. Anyone who says the government is worse, doesn't understand bureaucracies or they are lying.

You are correct, I am a woman mostly of the left, but being from Montana I am a full supporter of the second Amendment, I can't help it, by the same token, I am a full supporter of conservation, just like the members of Ducks Unlimited.

I would like to disabuse you of the notion congress is heading towards single payer, I think they are working towards forming the largest "group" in America, and this is one way first to hold down costs for individuals, who will always seemingly get the short end of the stick. Hopefully we will be able to insure most folks with primary and catastrophic care when this fight is over. Within the House Bill, there is a provision for forming a government insurance program, run by Federal Employees, with no part of management making hundreds of millions of dollars, this can introduce a different kind of competition for Americans, however, if you want better coverage, you will still have to pay extra.

If the very poor are already covered by Medicaid (something states need help funding always) will states pay into the pool to insure those populations? They most likely will, and so far I have seen nothing in the legislation to ban those actions. This will save states a great deal of money. Costs will inevitably come down because of this incredibly huge group paying into one system (FEHBP). Will we not all benefit from this legislation, whether we are conservatives, Republicans, liberals, progressives or democrats or nothing at all? What we must do as a society is make sure our congressional leaders do no succumb to lobbyists. Lobbyist will always tilt legislation towards funneling money into their own hands and into the hands of their employers. I will never figure out why everyone does not want to stop this from happening.

I hope I am making some sense. So join us in the fight against corporate ownership of you health, and we will deal with morality and other issues after that. If regular Republicans joined us, we could really get something done.

@Chagos

First: the Executive Branch does not write legislation. The House and the Senate. After those bills are approved by their respective committees they go to conference committee to work out the differences in the bills. Then they return to their respective committees for a vote or an argument, and it may play this way for a while or it will sail through. After that if the votes Pass in both houses, they send the Bill to Pres and that leaves him with two choices he can sing the bill or he can veto the bill. Wait I think he can ignore the bill too, but something as important as this will be a big event.

I am reading the house bill, I am pretty sure having two MA's gives me the reading comprehension skills to understand what I am reading. Being married to a federal employee I've learned quite a bit about FEHBP the past 22 years. I think this gives me a little more insight into what is happening on the health care front legislatively than the majority of people on this board, in this nation, and congress.

Second: We've had GEHA, I hated them, too much paperwork. We always had Dental Care through my position at the college. I quit my job last year and now we have excellent dental coverage through our primary health insurance (KPS) and Aetna for our supplemental Dental and Davis Vision through our vision care, which is excellent coverage as well.

Oh Mike, of course you see a point in participating in the debate, you are here. You know Capitalism on it's own doesn't work, it needs regulation. It is a natural law, nothing can escape it. It is Newtons third law: "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". Capitalism cannot escape it, nothing can.

@millerliteliker

You said:

You "progressives" are a hoot actually thinking that this man was a difference maker!!

We are the ones who are making the difference, how exactly do you think he got into office. We are looking out for ourselves, for a change.
