One Last Word

We have to help get health reform we can only do that by pushing back directly and telling our congressmen and women, what they need to do to get this done. I am reading the Rockefeller Amendment and am not thrilled with the Cantwell Amendment it seems to be a sucker punch and not real reform. Push back means participation, again, in the never ending campaign, but we owe it to ourselves to get it done. But the last election proved it can only be done through our own ability to organize and push our agenda. Our national conversation on the subject has been harmed by the wingers and their need to have democrats fail at all cost. I do not necessarily blame the President for attempting to retreat somewhat and compromise, he is a politician just like the others, he isn't better he just has slightly different beliefs, a slightly different perspective, but he isn't necessarily that much different than any other politician, well he has much more charisma, but you know, all politicians have charisma to a certain degree. I remember how much Bill Clinton was attacked, they came here the past few days to make sure everyone remembers things that don't actually matter in our lives, Pres. Clinton certainly has some personal issues. The new Pres. doesn't have those issues, and there is no republican congress, so the wingers will do anything to make sure he fails. Look at the current atmosphere, the Weekly Standard cheered that Chicago lost the bid for the elections, Huh? What does that mean, I thought they were a news organization, not a cheer leading squad for the republican agenda of continued failure, never change course even when it isn't working Republicans, never ever admit failure, blame the other side for everything, talk about being an adult but never stepping up and taking responsibility for failed policies. I have so much personal contempt for those fellows. Hatred is not a strong enough word, boiling contempt, I don't know, I don't know how to describe how utterly disappointing that kind of behavior is coming from adults, I use that term quite loosely here. We saw what could work again, during Clinton and Gore, we need to work towards the return of some of those micro-economic goals that can be accomplished through changes in contracting requirements, little hikes in the upper tax brackets. I think we should be working towards more infrastructure investments, direct investments in research and development, let's utilize LLL, JPL, et al again, we've got a great deal to do, here.

I feel sorry for President Clinton in a way, because there is much that has gone unwritten about the unmitigated good some of this smaller policies had on our economy and the people. Things began to change when the money began to contract to fewer and fewer hands. Thanks George Bush. I think democrats have to do a better job of publicizing their successes.

Republicans are doing anything they can to stop any good from coming of Health Reform, and there are 5 Senators (rat bastards) helping them achieve their goals. People have to put their money where their mouth is once again, if you want to win, you have to push those 5 senators and anyone on the edge, they will simply have to be opposed as Republicans were opposed in the last election. When we put our money where our mouths are we win! Go figure. We have experience because of Clinton we need to expand on that and use some of the techniques republicans have employed against them, not just rhetoric, but by going to public meetings, writing, bugging neighbors and friends into joining in and organizing against the insurance industry that is seeking to maintain their monopolies on all our lives.

And earlier this year Bill Clinton told the net roots a somewhat distorted truth but I will correct his truth. He talked about a failure of the net roots during his presidency to help him get health care passed, and in reality there was no net root in 1993-94, but he is correct about participation of the public and having a greater liberal voice out there to help educate people so they can make informed decisions, not decisions based on misinformation.

That is how we fight back.

Economists

Although I am a person who studies the government, and a believer in micro-economics at it's lowest level, I find myself unable to judge those folks, because I know so little about the world of macro-economics, I do wish I knew more. I like Krugman, but often find him smug and depressing, I am an optimist, and never believe we are down and out, I always believe there is a way out of everything, sometimes you just have to work harder, but that is the Irishman in me. :)
