Living in Hawaii gives people a different perspective on the US. Hawaii has universal health and has had since I can remember. In 1981 when I was living there and working before heading back to the mainland for college I had full coverage health insurance mandated by the state. I had a friend who was pregnant at the time and the birth was covered, well baby visits were covered. We only made $5.00 per hour, but we had full coverage. But the word socialism never came into play. What is true socialism, is there such a thing? Why is it only relevant when it is about Democrats?

I did this for four years and then walked away from the job, just walked. I was only supposed to work 32 hours a week, that was the agreement, I negotiated it myself. There was supposed to be time, time to spend with my family, time for me, etc. Well that didn't happen, the 32 hours a week I got paid for ended up being around 60 hours a week and me working on the holidays when no one else was to keep us afloat, to keep the work going, to keep the work done, even though no one else bothered. I had the ultimate job security because when I walked away, they called and called and called, please come back.

But they'd promised for more than a year that I would have help, they would let me hire a real assistant, but instead of that they hired two other people saying one more time, maybe next year, so I walked.

It took me three months to recover physically from that job. Finally I am feeling better again. Functional.

One of my best friends sister committed suicide in 2007. She had suffered from depression for a very long time, but I am here to attest to what it does to the family, and therefore to try to get you to talk to your family and to your brother and to try to get help so as you do not leave them feeling that emptiness and wondering what they could have done to stop you.

You seem lonely, my friends sister was lonely too, even though she was married, she just never felt like everyone else. I'd known her since she was a teenager, 16 to be exact and we were in college. But you wouldn't have known it if you were an outsider, on the outside she seemed fine, oh she'd had her problems as does everyone, but on the outside she seemed like everyone else. She and I also spent time together as adults, I really loved her too, well all did.

Everyone was and continues to be devastated over this and the family is somewhat broken. My friend searched and searched for a reason and even said, she didn't want to hurt us, but in fact that is what she did LW, she really hurt him and his entire family, because they can't stop thinking about what they could have done to stop her to help her it is going to be two years in November. Even my friends very small children were hurt, and they realized something was wrong. It is devastating and it will be devastating for your brother. It will destroy him, he will wonder the rest of his life what he could have done, it could ruin his relationships with everyone else.

Please talk to your brother about how you feel, try to work through some issues, issues you might not know have left that hole inside you, the one that is seeking to stay here with all of us and the one that says I can't take it anymore.
