I never met a stoner

Who got into a fist fight over nothing (like alcohols does), I never met a stoner who caused a horrific traffic accident, I never met a stoner who stole for his drug, I never met a stoner who used a lethal weapon, the only thing stoners do with frequency is snack. Geez give me a break, and to say that a 23 or 24 year old kid is a role model means that is something wrong with us a society to put that kind of pressure on kids. Give him a break, he got caught, because some dumb ass he was hanging with thought he should capture the episode on his cell phone, I just thank god there were no cell phones in the 70's, I'd be screwed and I trained as an Olympic Swimmer and would have gone to the 1980 Olympics.

Original article: Senate cuts a stimulus deal

Make Republican filibuster

They should have made republicans filibuster. There would be no need for any compromise, they could strike out republican tax cuts which benefit no-one. Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe and Arlan Specter would still have to vote for it in the end, that is if they want to be re-elected.

Let's see for eight years there were no compromises, Democrats were rolled over by the Republicans all the time, now it is time they stop. I am writing my senators today. Everyone should, remind them who is in charge and who won the election and remind them that they should allow the Republicans to bury themselves, make themselves completely unelectable, not continuing to do whatever Republicans say! They need to hear from us, don't forget to tell them what you think.

If they really want to stop legislation let the Republicans filibuster, then lets see what their constituents say.

Make them Filibuster

The senate which seems to be full of moronic, lazy, dimbulbs. They need to make the Republicans follow through with their threat of filibustering this bill. The house should insist everything go back in that bill that is necessary for the country. Those three Republican senators are not in charge of this government. I want them to follow through on their threats and see where that takes them. I heard them threaten last night that they would not agree to continue to support this bill if it is altered at all in conference committee, as if to say we are in charge still and we control everything. What the hell do they think conference committee is anyway, it should be called compromise committee. FUCK THEM! THEY ARE LYING REPUBLICAN BASTARDS, THEY ARE NOT IN CHARGE ANYMORE AND THEY SHOULD BE STUCK WITH THEIR THREATS OF NON COOPERATION. It's as if they haven't seen their own poll numbers. The senate needs to grow a pair. I've written my senators, everyone should do the same, tell them to make the Republicans filibuster. Let the nation see exactly what kind of tools these folks are.

Yes I am really, really angry.

We had the same problem with levy's here Kitsap County Washington, so what we did to handle that was change the 60% levy requirement to a 50.01 levy requirement like it is for every other law. For years we could pass nothing, finally this year we passed a capital projects levy for our school district SKSD with 56% of the vote. It is about time too because our schools are crumbling. They don't have enough money for free lunches (I donate cash every year for kids who can't afford to pay for their lunches, but I can't carry the entire district), they don't have money for new books, they can't fix their buildings, and there are folks out there who continue to run down the public school system even though the majority of kids in this nation are educated by public schools. I was not I attended private schools and boarding schools my entire life, but my husband was public schools all the way and he is incredibly well educated with a BS Met Engineering and and MS Met Engineering. He lived in the projects of Philly when he was in elementary school in the 70's, we owe it to our children and grandchildren. We owe it to our nation.

@Laurel962

Well starting wage for a teacher in the state of Washington is 28,000.00 per year not 46,000.00. I am not a teacher. They are underpaid. Benefits have exploded for everyone, health insurance is expensive. Our employer pays 785.00 a month for ours and we pay 350.00 a month, that is 1135.00 a month for health insurance alone that is $13,620.00 per year. Schools aren't exempt from health insurance costs going up. It sure is easy to blame it on teachers though, they have been a target of conservatives and republicans for years simply because they are unionized. I don't understand why people hate teachers so much though and really seem to think that profession simply makes to much money, is it some leftover paternalism? You know because teaching is a "woman's" job it will never be valued as highly as say my position, a college professor, which is more of a mans job. It is pretty disconcerting, and I suspect the anger you are showing towards teachers is based in years of conditioning that women are not worth as much as men are, that woman's work like teaching, nursing and day care should remain underpaid because those jobs are not as valuable. Unions are just for men and blue collar jobs, they work harder right, that is man's work so it should be higher paid right. You've been brainwashed appropriately by the right though, haven't you, touting every reason teachers are at fault and unworthy.

@Trainman

Teachers in Montana top out at 32,000.00 per year. Montana's average wage isn't much. 32,000.00 a year is nothing. I made more than that when I was slinging coffee while going to graduate school.
