Of Course the Can and they Will if...

They will actually have to accomplish things.

1. Universal Health

2. Jobs.....

3. Taking Control of the bailout for the financial industry and begin to hold them responsible for this mess. What a failure this has been, no oversight what-so-ever. Hank Paulson seems to be lining the pockets of his friends but doing nothing to help the economy. He is hopeless squid. He must answer for this and so should those executives. I saw senators and congresspeople grilling the Car execs, but hey they are victims of this financial crisis as well. No loans, no car buying, no jobs, no car buying or worse yet defaulting on current car loans. Seriously, when are those guys going to pay. Why didn't they have to submit plans for paying back and reorganizing?

4. Getting out of Iraq

5. - 10 Jobs

Those must be the goals. If they can accomplish these tasks, they can win again in 2010. I am blown away by the 533,000 jobs lost in November. Wow. Boeing almost closed in the early 70's and it nearly killed Seattle, maybe you've heard the story, there was a big sign heading out of Seattle and it read, Will the last person leaving Seattle please turn out the lights. It took until the 1990's with the growth of Microsoft, Starbucks, Costco, UPS, and the new start ups that grew in the 90's to bring Seattle back. Wow has it changed. But yesterday on the news they showed pictures of empty food and gift banks for the poor and homeless. It had the same feel, eerie, like things have gone really bad. My gram was raised here during the depression, well she was from here, she told us stories that because her dad worked during the depression, he was an engineer he had a machine repair business down in Pioneer Square, he supported the whole neighborhood. Her mom made bread and potato pies and put them out for the neighborhood so everyone would have something to eat. Because that is how bad it got. There was no money for the majority of people at that time.

Congress needs to do what they can do so things don't get that bad again. The public works programs being proposed by Pres. Elect Obama will be necessary and essential for making this happen.

Democrats should simply ignore the recalcitrant republicans, they will be meaningless. That can work to their favor as long as those projects are not methods of government officials friends lining their pockets. But the dem's are not Republicans and I expect them to hire seasoned professionals to run these programs. And they will have the help of one or both of the Senators from Maine. Their constituents voted overwhelmingly for the dem candidate, they will have to do what their constituents want. This could be very good for the dems for the long run as well beyond 2010. If they do this right and they don't get greedy.

@The Reptillian Corporation

You said:

Seems like the Dems haven't really accomplished much of anything.

Well they haven't been sworn in yet, so what are they supposed to do before they are sworn in?

GOOD LOOKING??????

You seriously don't believe that do you, he isn't good looking at all, in fact he looks like a used car salesman, and that is never a good look. He has Ted Baxter's hair, except it isn't white and he looks suspiciously like the sales guy from WKRP in Cincinnati remember him Herb Tarlek I think.

What's up with this license argument? The guy said that he normally does jobs as a sub-contractor so he doesn't need a license. This was a guy who was simply standing in his front yard when this whole thing was thrust upon him. Does the tinfoil-hat crowd really need to see him fix a toilet to let this arument go?

It isn't legal to present yourself as a licensed plumber and then not be one. Sub contractors cannot present themselves as licensed plumbers, you can allow them to do plumbing only in your home, but if there needs to be an inspection you are better off to have a real licensed plumber. He could never work on a prevailing wage job without his license or without being an apprentice.

There is no escaping the fact Joe "the liar not plumber" W lied about his profession multiple times. He even said he was in a Union, and they said he isn't. Joe "the not plumber" is quickly becoming a professional liar.

@RobbySh

Clear him of what? There are no accusations against the President elect.

You know what you Republicans are determined to destroy this country and I for one and getting sick of it! Haven't you all done enough? Isn't the economy bad enough? Isn't our standing in the world bad enough yet? Do we not owe enough money as a nation, have we not done enough destroying other places like Iraq, yep thanks to you assholes. You are creeping the rest of us out. No accusations against the Pres Elect and all you morons can do is talk about how he must be involved, never mind that the auto industry is about to go down the tubes, thanks to you republicans. Wait let me put it this way, thanks to you idiot Republicans who think Unions are the reason the industry is in trouble. God what morons you all are!

You people never stop, soon you will be accusing him of murder and all kinds of crazy assed shit.

So my message to you nutty Republicans, we are sick of you.

We are sick of you wrecking the country, we are sick of you blaming others for your own mistakes and weaknesses. We want you to stop and either do something positive, or STFU.
