Even Bayh:
If he says he is sorry. Blah, Blah, Blah... Look Lieberman can stay in the caucus if he wants to but he should not be the chairman of the homeland security or anything for that matter, give Hillary Clinton his assignment. There ought to be some penalties for breaking the rules of the caucus. One of the rules of the caucus is not supporting Republicans, and then how about not attacking the Democratic nominee, back handed remarks about maybe he is a socialist and the country won't be safe with Obama as President. Sorry... times up, game over, you can now be the head of the janitorial committee!!! Anyway he isn't a member of the democratic party anymore. Looks like we've gained another in Alaska and maybe one more in Minnesota. I do not expect that Georgia will go the way of dems, it could be it isn't likely. If Lieberman then chooses to caucus with the R's then even better because he will be fired in 2012 by his constituents. I've never liked the guy and thought Gore was foolish when he picked him to be his VP. So I say Good Riddance Lieberman, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
We get it. Lieberman should be held accountable for the promises he did not keep. He said, no attacking Obama at the R convention. Well at that time the Dems were holding the chairmanship over his head, and guess what, he broke the rules! He knew what the penalty could be. Sometimes you have to pay the price. He continues to say, he put country first, he believed what he said. Well OK. If he thinks he will be comfortable in the Republican Caucus, good for him. I don't think he will. That aside, he is the one who placed the chairmanship of Homeland Security at risk. He was willing to do this. My advice to Joe is to live with the consequences without the whining pity party! There are other senators, in particular Hillary Clinton, who did their job this election. She supported Obama, campaigned for him in an admirable way. Why not give the committee chairmanship to her, she would be excellent, she would actually hold hearings. Lieberman, I wholeheartedly disagree with you and Bayh, no way should he keep his chairmanship.
It is merely punishment for promises broken. That is what democrats promised. Bayh's approach has not worked. Lieberman already broke his promise, he attacked our nominee at the R convention, and he promised he would not. How many promises must he break in order for the dem's to just take away the Chairmanship of Homeland Security. I might offer him Chairmanship of the Basket Weaving Committee, maybe the Committee to Regulate Honey Buckets, but not Homeland Security. There are upsides and downsides to everything in life. Joe has to know that as well. The dems just need to follow through, especially while they have the opportunity to do so. It may give them the edge in 2012, when Joe is up for re-election. If Joe has no power he will not be able to represent his constituents.
Anyway I don't want anyone to hold anything over his head. I think dems should be done with him, move on, try to attract the senators from Maine, where Obama clearly won. I think Lieberman should understand he damaged himself within the party. He can caucus if he wants to, but hold no Chairmanships, unless they are one of the two I mentioned above! hehehe...
Thanks.... Very funny!
He must be joking.... A center right country! That is hilarious. I guess if he means the majority of people are interesting in Universal Health and Dental, if he means withdrawing from Iraq, if he means talking to Iran, Syria and Spain. Yeah I had to throw that in. If center right means infrastructure and R & D investments, everything from energy to stems cells to climate change, I guess that means we are a center right nation. What egotistical, narcissistic fools! It is their attempt to keep relevant, but they lack their own policy initiatives and ideological frameworks for introducing anything to the public that veers from and constrains their world views. They are quickly becoming irrelevant, because all their ideas have been tried and they've failed on a grand scales.
So I say good luck to you Neo-cons on the left and the right. You've been proven wrong, it is time to get off the stage and reassess. Crunch the numbers, do what football teams do when they lose, hit the replay button and find out where you went wrong. You may learn something!
When I read your lines I realize I am never as smart as I would like to be! Glad you are in the clan... The county Cork clan that is!
:)
I think Joan the one thing I learned during the primary and the campaign for the general is Hillary Clinton is one of us. She isn't her husband, she has her nose to the grindstone, she studies, she is smart (those are things I already knew) and she wants to do what is in the best interest of the US. She is a strange yet fantastic pick for Secretary of State. She is a great advocate for women. I think she will be great if she decides this is what she wants.
As a supporter of Obama's from the beginning I don't think the Kos crowd needs to be thrown a bone. I want to see what happens here. I am curious to see who else he picks and thank god he is using people who worked for Bill Clinton, look they were smart and competent and that is what American's are looking for, smart and competent, especially competent. Bill Clinton's Administration was competent! They know how to run a government. Good, that happens to be what we need.
