Oh Yes Joan, John McCain and his campaign have been sexist from the beginning. John McCain chose Sarah Palin because she was a woman and not just any woman but a rather unaccomplished woman. There are so many other Republican women with real accomplishments in politics. Why were they not considered? That is the biggest question that must be answered, and I think the answer says a good deal about John McCain and what he thinks about women. He really thought women would flock to his campaign in droves because Hillary Clinton was not the nominee for the Democratic Party. Because to him this election is not about issues, but it is about personalities. Well for women, elections are almost always about issues. The pick certainly says much more about John McCain and what he thinks of women. I know what it says to me, and every time I go out and canvass or even make calls for Obama women always say to me, why did he think any woman could replace Hillary Clinton? Then they say they are going to teach him a lesson about women. Women are fairly angry with John McCain.

Just an anecdote though, I think John McCain has turned off far more of the electorate than just women, my girlfriend who is a UPS driver called me last night when she was driving home from work, she delivers in a heavy industrial area of the port, most of these folks are blue collar men and business owners, she has not heard one person in her delivery area who is going to vote for John McCain. They seem to think Palin is "hot", but that she is really , really dumb.

Go figure!

Those who support McCain and Palin are thinking in terms of 20th century science energy sources. Even Nuclear energy is very much a product of 20th century science and does not give way to current energy research. It doesn't matter whether or not Clean Coal is an Oxymoron, or that Nuclear Submarines are all powered by small efficient reactors, and it doesn't matter that we continue to use vehicles that burn oil in the form of gasoline. What matters is the future and the future of energy research. There are many options in the future but getting to that place is going to cost money. There are many examples of current projects some focus on Fusion, while others focus on alternate sources such as wind and solar.

One of the most promising in terms of supplying energy to communities is focus fusion. The Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission is partially funding this research.

Lawrenceville Plasma Physics and the Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission (CCHEN) have agreed to collaborate on a three-year experimental test of the focus fusion approach to fusion energy. The project will use the Speed-2 plasma focus device at CCHEN's Thermonuclear Plasma Laboratory in Santiago, Chile, one of the two largest plasma focus devices in the world. The experimental team at CCHEN of four scientists, headed by Dr. Leopoldo Soto, will collaborate with Eric Lerner, President of LPP and Executive Director of the Focus Fusion Society, and with other researchers.

The world is beginning to collaborate and fund energy science projects. America is the one not participating.

Obviously, more than one solution is needed. Focus fusion is merely one type of cutting edge research. Obviously there are many more options out there that must be considered.

Seriously, you don't know where he is getting the money for his political infomerical? From all the people who have donated to him this political season. He has 3.2 million folks who have donated to his campaign. He's generated around 750 million dollars, he enough left for a big ad buy, and this one was huge! But the money has come from private donors.
