Health

And then there was McCain's strange rant against a mothers health. He seems to believe a mothers health is meaningless when it comes to late term abortion. I have to say one thing about this, the mother's health is the most important issue to women. Many men don't seem to get this, but then again they don't carry a child, so what do they know about it, however, I for one do not want a politician getting in between my physician and myself, when it comes to making decisions about my health. That was a huge mistake on McCain's part, women will find his use of air quotes bizarre and make him seem like a tool of the very right wing. Haven't we all had enough of the very right wing controlling this country, they have done a lousy job.

Joe the Plumber

So Joe the Plumber has a press conference this morning. Why doesn't Sarah Palin have a press conference, I mean she is running for VP? Maybe Sen. McCain should have chosen someone who is allowed to speak to the press.

@pantanal

Please don't knock Kalispel,Montana you would have to travel either farther west to Libby or east towards Cutbank to find the folks you are talking about. Kalispel, Montana is a rather Liberal part of Montana, it has Democratic Representatives and is a very modern part of Montana. Western Montana itself is much more Democratic leaning than eastern Montana. Now Northwestern Idaho, where Hayden Lake is located definitely used to be a big area where white supremacists resided. Western Montana isn't really like that. No doubt you can find haters in W. Montana, but not like those N. Idaho folks and Eastern Montana.

Joe the Plumber

I guess he isn't even registered to vote! I guess he is a member of some fringe group, he doesn't believe in Social Security or any social services what-so-ever. I wonder if he knows our taxes pay for those roads he drives on to get to his plumbing jobs?

@jonlas7

You said, "John McCain will fight for what is right".

You must be living in some sort of cave right. Let me ask you this, if John McCain will fight for what is right, why did he fight to get us involved in Iraq. Time and time again we hear this from your side, if John McCain will fight for what is right, he would've wanted to catch bin Laden, and bin Laden has never been anywhere near Iraq. But really, fight for what is right? What does that mean anyway? I really want to know. He will do what exactly, fight for Universal Health Care (most people think that is right), will he fight for a Woman's right to choose, or only for a woman's right to be forced to have a baby even if it endangers her health. What exactly is right? Of course you are here with your right wing talking points, Ayers and ACORN. Are you kidding me? Those are great red herrings though. But the real question is, do you think for yourself? Just because Faux News and Rush tell you something, doesn't make it true. Why is it you wingers can't think for yourselves?

I see you've all been sent here today by which site is it, restate, newsmax, white supremacists unite, or whatever it is. Maybe you are the same person registering over and over again here at Salon, but guess what, in case you haven't noticed we discuss facts here, not right wing talking points and our support of them. Facts are foreign to you, we know that. Seriously, do you really think you will be changing our minds?

@Donut44

It is teresa without the h. Typical use of comrade, are you trying to say we are all communists and if so explain how we ae all communists? Why do you say Sen. Obama was "taken off guard by someone on the street". What exactly does that mean? ARe you saying Joe the unregistered plumber whose business makes more than 1/2 million a year is someone off the street? Joe the Plumber also doesn't believe in Social Security, what does that mean, it means to me he is off the board winger, who in their right mind doesn't believe in Social Security? Let's see, Bush and McCain, privatizing SSS is the only way, I guess it would be the only way to get rid of SSS just like they are squashing the value of our 401Ks. Thank god we have SSS to rely on when we get old after this year we may have little left.

So donut 44, it seems facts are what escape you wingers. Bill Ayers doesn't matter to anyone who has real problems. Things that matter, health care, education, good roads, good public transportation, things that count for regular people.

@jonlas7

Yes I do believe in Universal Health care, as almost all women who are mothers do. Our 22 year old was dropped from our insurance policy this year even though he is a full time college student living at home. We have had to purchase our son his own health care policy because he must be covered it is important. My brother who has run his own business for years has no health insurance because the cost is prohibitive, and at his age needs it but so does his young daughter.

Health care costs are hurting large businesses like Boeing and leaves them unable to compete with Airbus in many instances because of the cost they must pay for health care but the French company does not.

You believe health care is not a right, I believe it is. I do not think we are a third world nation and if all the other nations in Europe and elsewhere can provide for the health of their citizens so can we.
