Carville and the Clintons were responsible for the Democrats losing control of both Houses. Remember the Houses are Article I in the Constitution, this is significant. The founders did not see the presidency as a more powerful office than the Houses. Equal but not more powerful. Under Republicans we have lost much as a nation, our infrastructure is crumbling. Republicans have proven to be incompetent in all areas of managing a government! We are still recovering from this, in that the houses are split fairly evenly, preventing accomplishments and reforms and much needed investigations! That was the most important power Democrats held, the government! It is interesting that there are folks out there who see that as some sort of positive, and affirms some sort of genius. Part of the problem we are seeing now is a willingness to destroy people, personally. Sometimes people go to far, on both sides. The question is, how badly will the democratic party be damaged and what will that do to getting a democrat elected as president in the fall?
You know as a woman I think I am getting a bit tired of this game of who has experience the worst victimization. I think this is part of the reason some of us support Barack Obama. First Joan in the 1980's I attended engineering school, there were few woman and tons of men, not only did I have lots of date but I heard things said about me and other women that hurt, and even from Professor who said if you are a woman in this class (physics) you will not pass, because it was acceptable. However, I have not carried that anger on in my life, because I can tell you things have gotten better, men really aren't that bad! And most are not sexist they just tell dumb jokes. So what. I have to tell you I've had plenty of advantages being a woman, when colleges were seeking to diversify their staffs and I was still teaching computer science it helped me get a teaching position! I've only been pulled over once because I am a woman, but no one insulted me he just told me I had my tabs on the wrong license plates! OH by no one hauled me off to jail, searched me or anything we just had a good laugh.
I have to say a woman like Hillary Clinton and all the angry women her age have refused not unlike Rev Wright to see the good changes that have gone on in this country, I mean good changes, or do I mean great changes. I wasn't raised in this country so I do know what the rest of the world is like and how they treat women, well who wouldn't want to be here. Everyone does which is why so many get here any way they can, because it is simply better here. This is something that Barack knows too. But what is it about these women who refuse to see it? Who don't see their own successes as relevant, because if they are not getting what they want immediately it is because society is sexist? Really? I just don't believe it anymore, there certainly are sexist people but not society as a whole and NOT MY GENERATION, Barack Obama and I are the same age. There is much racism left however. Particularly we are finding out on the east coast, oh and particularly in New England and the Mid Atlantic states. But sexism? What woman is held back now because she is woman? The fallacy of this argument is one that needs to be discussed and maybe women playing this card should be called out. Don't we all know by now that it is economics and educational opportunity that separate us, not gender or race? Isn't it time for women like Hillary and men like Rev Wright to see our advances and be proud of them!
Even though this has nothing to do with this article, first I thank you for your comment and second, did we go to boarding school together in Bath Maine? Are you that same David Sugarman?
That is the difference Joan between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, he isn't going to play that old card anymore, can't you see that? JUst because there are folks that are sexist or racist doesn't mean we have to respond to them by playing the card of the Victim. Most of us just trudge on and forgot the idiots because they exist everywhere and there isn't anything we can do about it. Senator Clinton constantly plays that card, constantly. It is her claim to fame, I am a victim, boys don't let me play, blah, blah, blah, but I became senator mostly because I am a victim of my own husband. I would think that way to if I married a guy who was just not that into anyone but himself.
