Commercial News

He's only there to sell lightbulbs.

I attended a talk given by Brian Williams just before he became the news anchor. He was asked his opinion about bloggers - I can't remember the exact question.

At any rate, his answer was totally dismissive. He proudly stated that his stories went through 'five filters' before they were broadcast, which meant the stories were more accurate and credible due to these internal reviews.

He didn't provide further detail, but I can only imagine: 1) Will this story reflect negatively/positively upon GE? 2) How will this story affect the Nielson ratings? 3) Will it offend any of our sponsors? 4)Will we be accused of bias from other media outlets? 5) Does it unsettle anyone, making viewers less receptive to the next commercial?

I think another word for 'filters' is 'censors'.
