I've Looked at It Three Times

...and still can't find a question she answered well. This is beyond baffling--complete washout. The minute she decided it was an issue of making Gibson like her, she was already dead. It was a gun fight. Guess what she brought.

You know what it felt like? A scene from a Christopher Guest movie. One of those "Don't they know they're being filmed?" moments.

It's On Nightline Now

And seems to be the whole thing. What scares me most is the part with her son, which I somehow missed before. The desperate, crazed look on her face--a step from breaking into tears--when she talks about her son being on a mission from God is heartbreaking. I'd feel for her, as I guess this is her buried fear for her son's life, if she hadn't brought him into it herself as a talking point to elicit Gibson's sympathy.

Friday Night

Isn't another segment of this supposed to be tomorrow night?

Friday night on Nightline? I'll bet they're glad now it's there. Because no one will see it. Which, had this one gone well, would have been merely idiotic strategy. But now, if she does better next time, no one will see THAT and...

Oh dear. Who's doing McCain's strategy? Baldrick?

@Christopher1988

The Salon Parallel Universe

Is it just me that's noticed the instant you leave Salon, McCain is actually foudering, making one gaffe after another, and dropping in the polls? Anywhere in the media, even NRO for godsake. Even Karl Rove thinks he's doomed. It's consensus right now that McCain is running a terrible campaign. The MSM has been pursuing this meme.

But if you look at Salon, you actually get the idea he's a threat. Salon is one of the last outposts of the "Let the Republicans Win" wing of the DLCers in the Democratic party, that don't want a Democratic president till they're perfect, or until they're impossible to tell from a Republican. Or heck, just till they're Hillary.

So tell me, why is Salon running rear-guard action for McCain? Why do they keep trying to divert our attention to pointless crap like this sexism debate that I can't believe is still rumbling underneath all this?

What did they offer you, Joan? For reals?

@willi1116

That's why I hope his campaign staff never read Salon. Then they'd be like the Kerry campaign, second-guessing every single move. Obama not taking the media's advice, and not twisting and turning with each media fart(as McCain has been, and that's why he's got no weaponry left except race now) has seen him through this far. Just think if he'd been listening to what the media pundits thought he should do during the primaries. We'd be looking at candidate Clinton now, and the Republicans would have already had a nice big surprise waiting to destroy her, as they no doubt have since 1993. They'd have loved to have had her as their opponent. Her, they know how to beat.

And if Obama listens now and loses focus, we'll be looking at President McCain. Fuck, I repeat, FUCK Hillary 2012. he country can't even take ONE more year of this and I'm sick of Democrats having "strategic fallbacks." That's how we got here. There's another way to put it: "Letting the GOP win."

I hope I'm incorrect, but I really think Joan wants Obama to lose. Thank god she has no influence over him.

Toldja

And so have a lot of others, of the increments that have led to this. And if we were a police state we'd adjust to it. We ALWAYS adjust. Maybe if the soldiers take away your Ipods you'll notice.

I personally hope I AM a paranoid. But only if this country works totally different than any other in history of similar importance under these conditions. I think we've hit the terminal phase our pretending it couldn't happen brought about.

Which means we earned this, if it happens. Remember that. Oh, it was OK as long as it was muslims, right? Meaning not worth more than ineffectual complaint.

Fuck it, I give up. I'm informing on the rest of you just for not listening. I for one welcome our closeted, gelatinous, jowly GOP overlords!

Your Wit Scorches the Skin From My Face

What an excellent rejoinder! With such a clever mind you'll do well in the New Order.

I Think He's Throwing It Anyway

That or utter sudden stupidity are the only explanations of this campaign. Or maybe the GOP are the ones throwing it and didn't tell this year's Dole-esque placeholder.
