Bush vs. Bush, Neocons and Condi

It's not surprising that the conflict between Bush I and Bush II would come to light. But who else does daddy have to blame but himself when he gave approval for Dick Cheney to become Shrub's running mate? And then Cheney loaded the cabinet with all of the incompetents - but like thinkers - that he knew from coming up through the various Republican administrations, including the first Bush's.

Coupling this report with Sidney Blumenthal's THE NEOCON'S NEXT WAR also tells me that, with regard to Rice, they never intended for her to attain such a high level of prominence nor, I'm sure, have they EVER entertained the thought that she would be a presidential candidate. Now they're beating her down to size verbally to insure that she goes along with their plans now, and keeps her nose out of any political race in the future.

As for Bush II, he's hopeless. Nothing coming from him is his. The words and messages are all scripted by the neocons and Cheney.

In the meantime, they are creating monsters for the dumbed-down U.S. populace to hate, when those so-called monsters aren't really a concern of the neocons at all. What a sorry state this country is in today!

NO MACHINES ANYWHERE!

Every voting jurisdiction in the country should NOT use the e-voting machines they've been forced to purchase under HAVA. Not only Diebold machines, but every one sold by every manufacturer. None can be trusted! And HAVA itself should be repealed. It was a sham--a bribe to force election officials to move from reliable systems to computerized systems. Florida was used as the excuse for "reform" and the introduction and passage of HAVA. But, in case people don't remember, the chaos that existed in Florida was not about hanging or pregnant chads, but about NOT COUNTING the votes.

LOONEY FRINGO!

You fringos are every bit as looney and despicable as your rightwing fringe brethren.

Well, now, that's quite a statement---and patently UNTRUE. I'm a middle America, white female who has just qualified for Social Security and Medicare. I don't spend all day blogging and only on occasion comment about articles in Salon.com, of which I am a subscriber. One might call me "concerned" and "informed" and even a bit of an "armchair activist" and I was thrilled at the victory of Lamont over Lieberman.

So, before you bloggers try to mix us all up into a nutty fringe group, think again. Lamont could not have won that primary race without OUR support, too.

Lieberman's behavior since his defeat is despicable. The Democrats and independents of Connecticut - and centrist/left-leaning Republicans, too - need to make sure he's defeated in his independent race. His ungentlemanly behavior is an embarassment to them---and to rest of us Democrats.

HE'S A BUSY GUY

Georgie has a short attention span, and with so much on his mind -- like what comic book to read on his vacation or which way to ride his bike to avoid Cindy Sheehan or what chain saw to use to cut away brush (if there's any left to cut away, that is) -- that he just plain forgot about that poor woman in New Orleans. Ya think?

SARAN WRAP

This article reminds this aging feminist of the material that came out in the 1970s to counter the rising ERA/feminist movement. One suggested that a woman wrap herself in saran wrap and greet hubby at the door at the end of his workday.

I always wondered how the kids reacted to that. Or if the UPS deliveryman who might have come to the door before hubby (they were always men in those days) wondered if the woman had lost her mind!

Which then reminds me of an old joke (same era) of the woman doing the laundry in the basement. She decides to throw her housedress (women always wore dresses in those days, according to the media hype) into the laundry load. Then she notices that a pipe above the machine is dripping and could ruin her hairdo. So she spots her son's football helmet in the corner and puts it on. As she's busily doing her domestic duties in the nude, with only that football helmet on, a meter reader walks into the basement. Spotting her (before she spots him, of course) he says "I hope your team wins, lady."

In other words, the Forbes article is a bunch of crap.
