Original article: McCain, Obama in spat

LET'S BRING UP THAT UGLY SUBJECT.....

of Joe Liebermann.

I have yet to hear Senator Obama say he made a mistake in urging Connecticut democrats to support Liebermann (at the same event where Ned Lamont, Liebermann's opponent, was present). Ditto for Senator Clinton.

Obama says Liebermann was his "mentor" in the Senate. Clinton is a fellow DLC member of Liebermann, which is why I think she has never challenged Obama with regard to the influence war-hawk Liebermann has/had on him since Obama arrived in Washington. Nor has she made any comments about (Independent Democrat) Liebermann's very visible support of the republican nominee.

Poor judgement? You bet. On both of their parts. And it makes me wonder just how committed either one of them is with regard to bringing troops home and ending the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Frankly, I think turncoat Liebermann will be whispering in the ear of either one should he/she get elected to the presidency, just as we've seen him whispering in McCain's ear this past week.

Wasn't Lee Hamilton co-author....

...of that useless piece of crap called the 9/11 COMMISSION REPORT? Why would either Obama or Clinton want his endorsement?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Joan: I've been reading your articles all along but it wasn't until this one that it hit home. Especially the video. My background involves strong work and advocacy for women and for minorities. So I was torn between who to support and, thus, have sent contributions to both Clinton and Obama.

Frankly, I've been angry with both candidates for their antics during the campaign. I've tried to weigh each one's strengths, too. And to look at who their supporters are and what motives - good and bad - they have.

At the same time, I've seen the swipes taken at Clinton especially noting the frequency that the predominently-male punditry uses "Hillary" for her but "Obama" for him--another subtle form of sexism. Yes, I've seen the drawbacks to a Clinton presidency and especially her connection to the DLC (by the way, I think having Bill Clinton there in the White House is a PLUS). But, being from IL, I have also been puzzled at Obama's so-called charisma when the man I saw in the IL Senate was not friendly or outgoing at all.

After seeing that video, the truth jumped out at me. Having spent a lifetime working for women's rights and those of African-Americans and other minorities, and KNOWING that the American public is STILL nearly as racist and sexist as it always was (but try to hide it with political correctness when out in public) I realized that people would rather set aside their racism to vote for Obama, because their sexism is more of a problem. And, if polls are correct, it's clear they'd rather throw away their vote and support a white male than a woman in the end. (And forget that crap about "any other woman but Hillary" because it's become clear to me that ANY woman who runs for president will be judged the same way....as your "nagging wife" or "your first wife" who gave you that look outside of divorce court. What about the Lorena Bobbitt comment? Do some men really fear women that much?)

Most importantly, however, the video also reminded me of my own years of struggle to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, the hard work involved, the insults and threats endured, and the dreams fulfilled only with small victories and never with the big one. Young women today don't know about those struggles. That was years ago. Many of the folks who worked and marched alongside me are gone.

It's a weird feeling. This feminist now realizes what her (also feminist) husband has believed all along! We are abandoning our ideals by abandoning Senator Clinton. As far as our other commitment to the equality of races, Senator Obama will be around in 4 or 8 years with lots of much-needed experience under his belt and much more capable of being president (that is, unless his wife, Michelle, decides to run----HER I'd support today, frankly!)

So when I finish this, I'm going to write out a large check to the Clinton campaign, and hope she will stay in all the way to fight it out at the convention.

When I finish this, this aging feminist is going to.....

...send a link to my daughters to remind them what I (and they--and their father) worked so hard for all of those years ago.

The young guy will have his chance....later. It's her time now, folks.

REALLY STUPID STUFF

First of all, who picked George Steponoplous(?) to ask questions? He was more interested in hearing HIS voice than in listening to their answers, proven by his attempts to interrupt numerous times!

Bring back the League of Women Voters to run these debates! They have procedures that candidates aren't allowed to abuse, and would NEVER have dumb videotapped planted questions like that silly one about the flag pin.

So, I don't blame either candidate for getting ruffled or tripped up in their answers. Frankly, as a serious voter who studies the issues, I found the first hour of that debate a waste of time and left the room, not bothering to wait around for the "substantive" part.

Those who ran the so-called debate need to go hide their heads in shame at the manner in which it was done!

Why can't he just go away?

Geez! Aren't thing bad enough? Why punish us with mentioning that awful Santorum man? Does anyone care that he's endorsed anyone?

THE MARRIAGE WAS ILLEGAL ANYHOW.......

..because Barack Obama (the father) already had a wife in Africa when he married again in Hawaii. Just a small point, I admit (unless you're opposed to plural marriages like many of us are!). Another clarification: Senator Obama is only HALF African-American. In other words, he's Bi -racial. The days of the "one drop" rule are long gone, thank heaven.
