Original article: Ask the pilot

One more thing!

For those who praise Southwest, that's the airline that primarily serves my area and, thus, the one I use the most. While its boarding process (in the terminal at the gate) may be better--in some people's estimation, because it's not as good as it used to be with the new pricing/boarding system--once inside the plane it's the same as every other airline. Even with unreserved seats people want to be seated in the front rows. Don't they understand that the entire plane with all of its passengers arrives at the gate at the same time?

My husband and I make it a point to have low number "A" boarding passes not to sit up front, but to get to those coveted seats in and near the emergency exits which are halfway down the plane. More legroom. Seats that don't recline back into your lap. Oftentimes close to the bins with the pillows. Half way between the two toilets so you can choose either one, if needed. And, for early boarders, plenty of room in the overhead bins.

Do ya think....

...that Dr. Laura also thinks women should get naked, wrap themselves up in Saran Wrap, and greet hubby at the door like that when he returns home from work?

HOOKERS AND JOHNS SHOW

The TV just happened to be on during Larry King's hookers and johns show, and what I heard drew me into the room to see if what I was hearing was real. I thought it was the weirdest show I'd ever seen, not realizing that the next night's show would be even weirder.

The whole thing keeps reminding me of the lyrics from a song in the musical The King and I:

[KING]

A woman is a female who is human,

Designed for pleasing man, the human male.

A human male is pleased by many women,

And all the rest you hear is fairy tale.

[ANNA]

Then tell me how this fairy tale began, sir.

You cannot call it just a poet's trick

Explain to me why many men are faithful

And true to one wife only.

[KING]

THEY ARE SICK!

A girl must be like a blossom

With honey for just one man.

A man must be like honey bee

And gather all he can.

To fly from blossom to blossom

A honey bee must be free,

But blossom must not ever fly

From bee to bee to bee.

Nothing has changed, folks. The more powerful the man, the more he needs to have his ego stroked. Some men do it in extra-marital affairs, brief sexual liaisons, and even with paid partners.

Stop blaming the wife. She's just the blossom who must not ever fly. I've seen many a political wife in my long years of life who have been humiliated by their ego-driven husbands.

So????

The White House was Hillary Clinton's HOME. Unlike a lot of other presidents and their spouses, the Clinton's didn't have another home somewhere else---like a mansion in Maine, or pretend ranches in Texas and California, or a real ranch in Texas, or a peanut farm in Georgia, or a house in Missouri, or a family compound in Massachusetts. As I recall, they didn't own a home of their own until they bought the one where they now live in New York.

So why would it be surprising that the wife of the president - even a cheating one - would be AT HOME while he was having his affairs with Lewinsky?

What nonsense! Another case of lazy reporters, who sift through the important things - which might require additional research to prepare a good story - to find the crap that needs no additional work.

GOVERNOR BILL RICHARDSON....

IS AWESOME IN THAT BEARD! DON'T KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT HIS ENDORSEMENT OF OBAMA - OR SO-CALLED BETRAYAL OF CLINTON - BUT, HECK, IF HE HAD GROWN THAT BEARD LAST YEAR MAYBE HE'D BE THE FRONT RUNNER NOW. AND, LET'S FACE IT, HE'S A WHOLE LOT BETTER LOOKING THAN JAMES CARVILLE!!!!!!!!

Let 'em fight it out all the way to the convention

As I recall -- way back when conventions meant something -- most states only bound their delegates to candidate pledges on the first vote. After that, they were free to vote for whomever they wanted. So, let the process go through the obligatory first vote. Then have a second, or third, or fourth vote to determine the winning candidate---including, of course, the Michigan and Florida delegates.

Why do our party leaders insist on having the decision made before the convention? That being the case, why even bother having a convention? Why waste the time of those individuals who can be out campaigning for a Democrat winner in the White House? Why spend those millions of dollars to run a convention - and to attend one - when that money could be put directly into campaign costs? If there is going to be a pre-determined winner before the time of the convention, why not just book a studio, invite the media, and let the pre-ordained candidate make his or her acceptance speech? And then get on with the task of defeating the republicans in November?

Brings back memories

Tom in Central Illinois says I have heard of a case where a faculty member was a tenured assistant professor for his entire academic career, he was never promoted because he staged a street theater spectacle during the 1980's that almost got him shot by the local police...

While no longer a resident of IL, I do remember the case well. Thanks for taking me down memory lane and the days of then-Sangamon State University (now the University of IL at Springfield). Imagine today seeing a "long-haired hippie" (or anyone) branishing a (fake) gun in the middle of a busy street across from the city's major mall!

Frankly, I think the Democrat party is in need of a little "steet theater" and I think it should happen at the convention where the two candidates slug it out once and for all.
