Original article: Fear of spying

Democratic Stratetgists

The results of these Democratic Strategists seems to add up to election after election lost. So of course, we must listen carefully when they express their fear of losing the next ones.

What a change it would be to hear them talking about winning an election, but that does not seem to be included in their program. Don't they realize that the Democratic Party already looks weak? They back down on every issue, they point to no path, they refuse to take a stand.

How much do they get paid for these self-defeating strategies?

Original article: Patriot Act games

Russ Feingold

Logic, reason and truth, we hear little enough of them. I always read Mr. Feingold's articles and hope he will run for President while I am still around to vote. It would be such a pleasant change to vote "for" someone rather than just "against"

The country is run by Republicans like a mob family, the Democratic Party is invisible, run by Party bosses straight into the ground.

When will people wake up to Texas?

He should be remembered for what he is-- A bug-catcher. A bug-catcher of the type prized in Texas. He gets not only his own bugs but yours too, if you haven't got any he can bring them in a jar. Home delivery with a strut and a loud mouth. A real man.

Haven't Americans had enough of Americans from Texas. They keep coming back, just like the bugs. Chewing away at the foundations of the White House, the Constitution, whatever they can get their teeth into. They keep getting elected to powerful jobs, or they buy the elected representitives of other states with all that oil money the bugs crawl over in their dark damp breeding ground.

He is one of those people who go to the back door to serve those going in the front door, then brag about their connections. On the old plantations they called them over-seers, kept to do the dirty work.

Yes, he will leave one of those soft sweet memories of a man who knew his place and served well. He just got too big for his breeches.

Original article: Stillbirth certificates?

What is birth?

A Birth is a coming to life of an independant individual who, once the cord is cut, must breath on its own, is nourished externally and sees the world through its own eyes. This is not the case with a still birth that speaks for itself. It is a potential individual who never came to life.

It seems to me that this is just another way to deny death. In other times death was accepted since it could not be avoided. Modern medicine furnishes the means to delay death but does not offer the illusion that death can be denied. Losing a child one hoped would live is a great pain but pain is part of life.

Personally I have never obtained any comfort whatsoever from the death certificates of my loved ones who died.

To use these issues that are so personnel for any purpose seems low and petty.

I can't imagine how Joseph Lieberman slipped under the radar for top worst democratic Senator.

"What's wrong with Kansas?" It is anybody's guess.

Cheney

It is unimaginable that Bush would let any one out of the WH other than being dragged away. Even then he would complement them on their character and devotion to his person and the nation. There are however more and more photos of Cheney sleeping. While sleeping he does no evil, unless like a computer his evil deeds are working in the background, downloading all that eavesdropping information. Or, perhaps he and Rumsfled take turns sleeping and these little naps are cheating. That could be the glitch and the reason for all his woes.

He can't give a public explanation, he only appears in public in far off "stan" countries where he appears as the big bad wolf according to Putin.

Original article: Bumiller and Bush: Amigos!

E. Bumiller and the MSM

Elizabeth Bumiller's articles seem to belong to the gossip column rather than in the news section. I stopped reading the NYT and the Wash.P last year. They have both become like siamese twins with the government, deciding what is best for the reading public to learn. Is that journalism? All of Washington is like the Satyricon. Felleni saw us in advance when he returned to a Latin author.

Save Our Souls

I wonder if there is not an element of jumping ship. The corporate media are now money-making machines before being

information outlets and as such will not stay on board if they do not profit by it. They are like any corporation now...just follow the money.

The Washington Post has now so sullied its reputation and fallen so low it would have to do sustained "honest" work to regain even a semblance of credibility.

The Bottom Line

The corporate media outlets, press and TV, exist to sell paper, to make money. These talk show hosts are little more than disc jockeys playing the most popular tunes or the ones being pushed by themselves and their employers. They have a high margin of profit and a low level of integrity. The coverage of the 2000 election was evidence with their gushing embrace of the Bush boy.

I decided, not with my vote, not with my money and canceled almost all subscriptions to the dailies, weeklies, and monthlies. No one obliges us to buy or read the pablumn shoveled behind their much discussed covers, as though this is of great importance. I now spend the subscription money on books, "How Would a Patriot Act?" is an example, stay informed by reading the international press on the net and a great varity of blogs. The information is out there, it is just that you need a sturdy tool to find it.

It is a reward to read Glenn's articles.
