Captain Lara B, you're still fence sitting, what's the verdict?

So Webb's not perfect. If Allen gets his job back, do you think that women and gays in the military are likely to get much justice from that ignorant race-baiting cracker Allen?

We had this discussion before and you bugged out on me without an answer. Go back and read the thread if you like.

Look, you can't change anything until your party is in power. Suck it up, Captain, and drive on! You're either with us, or your with them. Make your choice.

Captain Lara

OK, glad you got back in touch. Too bad you can't vote in Va. I'm glad you had a chance to get in Webb's and Warner's faces. That's worth a 1,000 letters that never get read.

I hope you weren't pointing at me when you wrote ..."I would caution those of you who have never served to bear in mind..."

Wanna see my DD214? My CIB?

I second your very well written assessment:

"there is an aspect of military culture that causes many of its members to almost pride themselves on political incorrectness; in certain circles, bluntless and a sort of working-class sexual explicitness are considered virtues, not vices."

The way we're going, nobody is ever going to be able to run for high office unless they were raised in a convent and had no contact with the outside world. As we roll along, everybody says something at one time or another that could endanger their chances.

Some people might take George Allen's Macaca as innocent enough. He's just a good ol' boy who said something dumb. But then there are the other things, the Flag of Treason on his lapel and pickup truck, the noose, the friends close to the KKK that he doesn't shoo away.

But Webb's faux pas was two decades ago. Allen's was less than two months ago. And he still doesn't get it apparently.

I'd like to get your thoughts on what the military needs to do to deal with their failure to assimilate women and gays into our forces. More than that, I'd like you to make sure that James Webb gets your thoughts on that topic once he beats the daylights out of George Macaca Allen.

Forgive me if I gloat

But what ever humiliation Santorum is suffering it's not enough for me. Like my grammy said, "Time wounds all heels."

Original article: Arugula for everyone

Nice reach, but short.

Did you think the condescending, gratuitous inclusion of Coulter's name would help get your piece published at Salon? Oh Ratha, you know us not so well as you think. Using Coulter's name wilts our appitite for your writing like hot bacon grease over iceberg lettuce.

Here's what Wiki says

"Allen's mother, Henrietta Lumbroso, is of French Tunisian descent[2], and "comes from the august Sephardic Jewish Lumbroso family." [3] According to Allen, Henrietta's father had been imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II."

The Wikipedia listing for Allen has been locked due to vandalism so the information is fairly immune from recent tampering.

So Fox was well within her rights as a journalist to ask Allen why he dropped the faith. It might have been an opportune moment for Allen, if he had been prepared.

But notice carefully the wording of Wikipedia: "According to Allen [his grandfather] had been imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp ..."

Bill O'Rielly famously proclaimed he had a nephew fighting in Iraq, but when pressed for more about this mysterious nephew, O'Blowhard got huffy, the same way Allen did, and said his family is private, off limits.

So these buffoons love to drag out the family tree when it suits them, and then growl and snap at anyone who wants more detail.

Well, if Allen wants to say his old grandpappy was in a concentration camp, I want to know which one, and for how long, and for what reason.

Seems like this would be a great opportunity for Allen to trumpet his brave grandfather's tireless fight against the Nazis. Unless maybe there is more to this story than is useful for Allen's campaign.

Politicians and public figures are fair game. They can't have it both ways. They want to make hay with having a nephew fighting in Iraq, or a grandfather in a concentration camp? Fine. So let's have the details.

Will he Bar Mitzva before the election? Get back, honky cat!

According to a Rabbi I know, it's not too late for George Macaca Allen to have a Bar Mitzva. Under special circumstances, there are times when a person has been separated from his faith due to things beyond his control, he may consult with a Rabbi, take some instruction, and then take his place among Jewish men through the ceremony of Bar Mitzva.

Macaca Allen might claim that his famous goy father brainwashed him and turned him into a cracker and never allowed him to know of his true Jewish birthright.

Since Macaca seems to have recovered his memory enough recently to remember that his family are holocaust survivors just in time to make some political hay out of it, perhaps he'd like to "quit those days and those redneck ways" (sorry Elton), and rejoin the "Lost Tribes."

It could be advantageous if Macaca Allen loses to Jim Webb in November. He could renounce his hillbilliness, move to Connecticut and trade on his Jewishness the way he's been trading on his phony crackerness all these years. At least it would be more honest of him to do so.

I really want Macaca Allen to go ahead and renew his inner Jew. I'm taking a mail order course to become a Mohel and I'd like to offer my services to Allen when the time comes for his circumcision.

Never ask a currently serving general anything

Generals serve under the command of the Secretary of Defense. Unless they want to be frozen out into a disgraceful and hasty retirement without honors, like Eric Shinseki, they know it's wise to say little about anything.
