Sunday night's NFL game is going to draw bigger ratings than ABC's agitprop mess.
And there's a Monday Night Football double header on ESPN.
I'm not going to watch that ABC crap. That's my first and most immediate way of protesting this propaganda.
All that was missing in their reply (below in full) was a big Fuck You in red capital letters at the sign off.
So I wrote back to them that there is no more room for doubt that this so-called "dramatization" is a partisan piece of Soviet Union-Style Agitprop, leaving no doubt whatsoever on which side of the political spectrum Disney, ABC and its local affilates are aligned.
I said that they would be delusional if they believe that using the public's FCC licensed airwaves to distribute partisan political propaganda would be forgotten or forgiven. Their decision to stand behind this fraudulent and deceptive work of fiction, presented as "based on facts" would influence my personal decisions on which network and local affiliate I will turn to for accurate information.
If anybody wants to use all or any of my verbage above when writing to their local ABC affiliate or ABC headquarters, feel free. I'm sure you'll get another "fuck you, we don't care" email response like I did.
But here's their statement in full:
"Thank you for the email regarding “The Path to 9/11”. The following is a statement issued by the ABC Network:
The Path to 9/11 is a dramatization, not a documentary, drawn from a variety of sources, including the 9/11 commission report, other published materials and from personal interviews. The events that lead to 9/11 originally sparked great debate, so it's not surprising that a movie surrounding those events has revived the debate. The attacks were a pivotal moment in our history that should never be forgotten and it's fitting that the discussion continues.
The following disclaimer will air throughout the movie:
"The following movie is a dramatization that is drawn from a variety of sources including the 9/11 Commission Report and other published materials, and from personal interviews. The movie is not a documentary. For dramatic and narrative purposes, the movie contains fictionalized scenes, composite and representative characters and dialogue, as well as time compression."
In a statement released Thursday afternoon, ABC said:
"No one has seen the final version of the film, because the editing process is not yet complete, so criticisms of the film specifics are premature and irresponsible."
We will forward your comments to the ABC Network. Thank you for writing."
We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.
It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."
Well, I'm not going to leave you alone!
I want you to get mad!
I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the [Al Qa'eda] and the crime in the street.
All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.
You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"
So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,"I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"
With apologies to Paddy Chayefsky. I'm glad he died before he got to see his nightmare become reality in America.
When you run out of ammo for your indefensible argument, cry racism.
It makes you feel good. Smug even. But when you are finished slinging your worn out epithet at people, the issues are unresolved and still demand an answer.
When you can't dispute a point of law, ignore it and start babbling about what is "deserved" and entitled to "because they are a human beings."
The INS is a mess. It needs fixing. In a few sensational cases like this one, it is arbitrary and cruel. But instead of trying to fix it with logic, with suggested alternatives, perhaps even with a comparative look at how other soveriegn nations deal with these issues, just bring out the little Racism pop-gun.
