Melanie Morgan's beef with the Air Force Times

Melanie Morgan, in case you don't know, is a third-rate Laura Ingram and Ann Coulter wanna-bee, who is trying to scratch out a living pandering to the Freepers.

Now that Fox 'news' is on the ratings decline and Righty Talk Radio has reached a point of market saturation akin to AM Radio evangelists in Texas, Morgan is having a tough time coming up with stuff that can get her noticed.

In her ignorance, she is now shocked to find out that the Air Force Times, as well as the Army Times, the Marine Corp Times and the Navy Times, are totally independent broadsheet publications from Gannett.

Morgan has her thong on backwards and she's sorely chaffed that the Air Force Times has told her to take her idiotic rants and fuck off.

But for those of you here at Salon who will never even see a copy of the Air Force Times or any of the other excellent publications in this group published for active duty non-commissioned military personnel, let me tell you why Morgan is pissed off.

These publications monitor what's going on in the military, the good, the bad and the ugly. These Times papers are not anti-military, they are not anti-war, but they are very much PRO- enlisted service people who face all kinds of hardships because of their decision to be in the military.

Morgan doesn't care to understand that these publications are not for her, and they are not for most civilians. They are for the common interests of working military and their families. They cover issues such as the Stop/Loss program, endless redeployment, loan shark predators that hang around off-post to try to take advantage of military people, Agent Orange, and other chemical/biological exposure information, health care and payroll issues and other hardships unique to our armed forces.

In fact, the publications spend a lot of column inches on highlighting the good and brave things our military personnel are doing world-wide. They actually DO support our troops.

But that's not good enough for political hacks like Morgan, (Who, I don't need to remind anyone, never fucking served!) she is so ignorant about all things military that she believes that everyone serving today is a goose-stepping member of the John Birch Society and has an autographed photo of Rush Limbaugh in their footlocker.

There is a great misconception in this country about the political affiliations of people in the military. You would be wrong to assume that they are mostly right-wingers and/or Republicans. They may have been leaning right and voting Republican when they went in, but a hell of a lot of them are seeing things differently now.

Condoleezza Rice: America's black Marie Antoinette

This sell-out refused to cut short her shoe-shopping while New Orleans was drowning.

Condoleezza has refused to this day to have anything significant to do with help for the miserable, wretched poor blacks of New Orleans. So it comes as a bit of a surprise that she would be so damned concerned about slavery.

Rice is America's black Marie Antoinette, stuffing her little piggies into thousand dollar shoes and dabbing flecks of white souffle from her big red lips.

There are a bunch of vicious, ignorant people on this thread

Let me dispatch the many of you who, one after another, say the same damn thing to this woman: "It's not about YOU!" or some variation on that riff.

Cary already said as much in his eloquent and gentle reply to the woman. But the rest of you just keep piling on, only without Cary's compassion. It's as if you don't read any of the letters that came before yours.

So stop being such callous jerks. None of you know her. None of you know her dying brother. In fact, I'm wondering how many of you have gone through this same experience. Because if you really had dealt with this type of situation you wouldn't dare make such ignorant statements.

One of the issues that Cary did not touch upon, that I feel from personal experience to be important is that younger siblings have to face the hard reality that they may someday be the only one left alive. They will be the ones who will have to one day face their own death alone. It's not as bad, I think, facing death surrounded by family. But eventually someone has to be last. I think what this woman my be feeling, but can not express is that she is grieving not just for her brother, and for all the time that she can't get back, but she is also grieving for herself.

If anybody wants to kick her around for that, then you really ain't much of a human being. Just remember, all you wise guys: Your time is coming. Let's see how brave you are.
