How are LeandraNolting’s comments homophobic? She (or he) uses the term 'drag queen' to describe the characters -- who are, in fact, much like drag queens: broad-stroked caricatures of women with a rather singular focus on fashion. What's wrong with that?

Read the article in full, then comment

If you do that, you'll understand that Michelle Obama's butt is a metaphor.

@Freddy Bendell

Yes, and my uterus is a facsimile. I get it.

God forbid a writer should take license in celebrating physicality as a metaphor (I said it again!) for massive, world-changing accomplishment. Next presidency, for the sake of everyone blowing a collective gasket here, I hope our leader is merely a disembodied head...or better yet, a brain in a jar.

staying at home: not just for rich people anymore!

This may have been addressed in the multitude of letters already posted, but a lot of the moms we see pushing strollers during working hours did not have the luxury of choice. For many of us, especially in cities like NYC who chose to make a living in the creative and/or nonprofit fields, it makes more economic sense to become a SAHM as opposed to pay for daycare or a nanny. So no more assumptions about us being the coddled wives of Wall Streeters (or whatever); why not look at us and assume we're living on savings, buying our underwear at Duane Reade, and stealing canned soup from our parents? It's just as much the truth as any other assumption out there.

generalizations, bigotry, and prejudice. Congrats, you guys.

These letters prove the point that we love nothing more than putting tidy little labels on people and dehumanizing each other to the point that we become mere caricatures to each other. So much for a little decency.
