Just wait until April, Andrew

the general public was outraged upon learning that Citigroup was planning to buy a new jet after sucking down so many billions of TARP fund

In April, the New York Mets will unveil the brand new Citifield. Citigroup has agreed to pay $400,000,000 over the next 20 years for the naming rights.

They couldn't cancel the $50m jet order fast enough. So let's see how quickly they back out of this contract when the public realizes taxpayer dollars are paying for Citi to advertise to us using our money. I'm predicting a boycott.

It should be spectacular.

Original article: Depressed? No! We're angry

correction needed

In France, Thierry Magon de la Villehuchet, a money manager, committed suicide after learning that his clients' investments...

He committed suicide in New York City. Which, as far as I can tell, is not in France.

Original article: A-Rod's "medicine"

Good jaywalking line, and Facts

1.) Everyone is on HGH these days, so.... whatever. The stuff is undetectable and it's called... Human Growth Hormone for Christ's sake. Trust me... they're ALL on it.

2.) Many clean ballplayers lost out to juicing ballplayers. Draftwise, playing-time wise, cashwise, game competitionwise etc. And that sucks for the guys who did the right thing.

3.) 99% of players that juice do their homework. Lots of players that don't even juice do their homework. So, that's a big ol' lie that A-Rod didn't know what he was doing.

4.) Ken Griffey Jr's accomplishements shine brighter with each passing season.

Stop with all this fake outrage

I heard these numbers on the radio early in the morning, so don't take them as fact... take them as ballpark figures.

In the late 70s winning candidates for congress spent $400,000. Now the number is almost at 10 million.

Who has that type of cash lying around to win an election? The answer: only the overclass - you know, those who are out of touch with your average American. Exaclty the people that can't represent us thoroughly.

So, you have to be a cash whore to get anywhere in politics. That's why I've decided to not embark on a career in the field. Blago needed cash to keep his seat. You all understand that, right? And he was using what he had to meet that end.

Shut the hell up or enact campaign finance reform.

the media didn't exploit her

The media is for profit - not you PBS (you know I love you). Think supply and demand. Millions of Americans demand celebrity photos, the more revealing the better. Just imagine how much money those god-awful celebrity magizines have made in the last decade.

Straight men aren't creating that demand.

The media didn't violate her. The sadistic demand to see that material violated her. And straight men didn't create that demand.

neotenous?!?

I used the context clues to figure out what neotenous means, but, come on, use words that are in the dictionary.

Gams on Glass had a great line about the kids in the woods. That's the freshest critique of broadsheet I've read.

This all reeks of psuedoscience. Just live life people. Be attracted to who you're attracted to. And then love them and be loved by them. Don't sweat 'studies' like this.

this is a damn shame

Journalism is dying. Newspapers kick ass and I wish Americans still valued them.

Critical thinking and reporting is passé.

Friday, March 13, 2009 12:29 PM

Here, here!!

Glenn, it's you and Phil Mushnick. You're the only guys who I think really cut through the bullshit.

But, you have to be damn good to earn that privilege. You have to skyrocket through the bullshit to earn that privilege.

All media, save PBS, is for profit (think freshman year macro and micro). Our society isn't exactly demanding critical reporting. We want News Lite. We're too busy rubbernecking at Brangelina to give a shit about lesser things like war or the economy. That's the problem.

Oh, and have you talked to any 18 year olds these days? I'm not sure if they're hungry to turn our media around. They don't have the attention span.

Also..... get off my lawn.

you just wait, Joan

Wait a couple weeks until the NY Mets unveil the new Citifield. Citi signed a contract to pay the Mets $400,000,000.00 to slap their name and logo on the new baseball field.

That outrage will make this seem like nothing.

Just wait a couple weeks Joan.

Pitt over UConn final.

Hansborough should enjoy himself the next couple of weeks. This will be the end of him dominating basketball games.

Just wait a couple weeks, Andrew

The Mets are unveiling the new Citifield. Citi agreed to pay the Mets $400,000,000.00 for the naming rights. You tell me how that's not coming from TARP funds. Money is fungable people. I'm confident the backlash will be loud and swift.

T-minus 2.5 weeks.

I've seen it a million times.

Stay out of your lover's cell phone. You're only going to find trouble. Create something called 'trust' and get by on that.

Stay out of your lover's cell phone.

Never happy

Much has been written, here and elsewhere, about the myriad ways in which the media trivializes Michelle Obama's past successes and diverse pursuits as First Lady, preferring to focus on her as an ordinary stay-at-home mom, a fashion icon, a "helpmeet" to hubby, a pair of arms, whatever.

Let's quit trivializing her. From here on out let's assume that Michelle Obama is the greatest living organism this planet has ever seen.

happy?
