Random-ski

Sick of the drug stories? Not when it’s Palmeiro or McGwire or Bonds. It gets old when it’s a guy so random his name is Randomski.

Look, we all know that roids and greenies have been used and abused by ballplayers for a long time. I don’t need to see Keith Miller’s needle schedule from the early fall of 1991 to prove that baseball players used steriods.

Plus, in defense of the fans, steroid use in baseball has a much smaller impact on the outcome of the contest than in swimming, sprinting, cycling, football, competitive weightlifting, etc. I’m not giving away ‘get out of jail free’ cards to all baseball juiceheads, it’s just that I’m a little tired of being appalled.

Baseball is a great game with great personalities and a great history. Let’s not dedicate most of the ink to beating guys up for going with the flow fifteen years ago. Maybe Big Mac had the right idea, “let’s focus on the future and wiping out steriod use in baseball, as opposed to talking about the past.” (or something to that affect)

People shouldn’t hit their dog for taking a leak on the carpet a decade ago.

As each day passes

Ken Griffey Jr's drug-free accomplishments shine brighter. I'll remember the 90s for Ken Griffey Jr., not roidheads like Klesko, Caminetti, BigMac, Sosa, Canseco and the list goes on and on and on and on. Ken Giffey Jr was the best player of the Steriod era, and he wasn't on steriods. That sent me a pretty strong message as a youth baseball player.

Safe Speech?

What should you be able to say on the radio?? The answer is simple: it depends on what color you are.

Shame on King

“This column is a proponent of the theory that not a single conversation, interaction or transaction occurs in the United States without race playing at least some small role.”

Someone find a tourniquet for King’s heart. Look at that sentence. Ridiculous. Absolutely mind-boggling. I just lost a ton of respect for you. King Kaufman, the embodiment of white guilt. Nothing happens in America without race rearing it's ugly head? I bought a newspaper this morning, I don't recall the undercurrent of race.

This ‘study’ is also ridiculous. If an African American, who makes millions upon millions of dollars a year, fouls someone, and that foul is called by a white guy, it’s pretty apparent that white people hate black people – right? RIDICULOUS.

This has been weighing on my mind. Let me know what you think.

White people brought people from Africa to America to work as slaves. For a few generations these slaves labored under the MOST oppressive conditions for no pay, no respect, nothing. This was easily the most egregious and shameful chapter in our nation’s history. Even reconstruction was a bear for southern blacks. But, as time has passed, the situation has improved for African Americans, more doors have opened up and more opportunities are available to black Americans. They are now living in the freest, richest, most tolerant, least oppressive nation in the history of the world (I understand it’s not a cake-walk, but compared to 99% of human beings living, African Americans are doing pretty damn well). Here is my question: as bad as American slavery was, is it almost ‘worth it’ to today’s blacks, considering if slavery didn’t happen, they most likely would be living in the most war-torn, diseased, poorest situation in the world, instead of America? Think about it. Let me know what you think about my question, not what you think about me.

King is racist

You wrote that the dress code is racially biased? I don't see that. If some joker wants to dress like he's not a respectable human being then the league is allowed to institute dress policy. I don't know what that is racially biased. I didn't notice whether it was black players or white players who were dressing like fools. I just thought it was a good idea to make them dress like professionals. How is that racist, King? Are you implying that it was a certain race that was dressing like idiots? Which one King? Which group? Because I didn't notice.

It is evident that you decided which race was the motivation for this dress code. I haven't made that distinction - largely because I don't see in black and white. We're all children of God.

What are we supposed to do?

Too nice of an invitation to not answer it. Here is what you are to do. Worship your husband and be worshipped by him. Raise your kids like Spartans, punish them when need be, put healthy meals on the table and limit television. Here is what it comes down to (if you're fortunate). Before you have your first child - look at your paystub and your husbands. Whoever makes more money, they should continue working, while the other should take time off to raise a baby. (that advice is for women)

advice for men: get a pre-nup. it's the only defense for the *modern woman*
