....OR....

The new model for changing the world??

Pull a Gates or a Buffett or a Branson or Romney.

Go corporate, go huge, then change the world.

He is Farhad Manjoo, and he's a great addition

My question for Farhad:

What are your stance on the ethics of freeing the i-phone from AT&T through hacking?

Tuesday, July 10, 2007 11:51 AM

re: ixvnyc

You're being ridiculous. Of course you can buy an i-phone and trash it or leave it in a drawer. You would be a royal fool if you did that, but no one has said you can't.

Also, this leitmotif condoning hacking makes me a little nervous. I applaud people who stay within the law and write codes and programs. You can make a killing doing this, ask Bill Gates. I'm uneasy about people writing code with the specific intent of avoiding payments (such as stealing music online, and this at&t circumvention).

Original article: No apologies, Katie Couric!

re: Yossarian

"I sincerely don't mean to sound chauvinistic, but it's clear that she was hired not for her journalistic credentials but for her appearance -- Leslie Moonves and the rest of the corporate whores running CBS wanted young horny men, advertising's most lucrative demographic, to tune in."

Us young horny men would rather watch news from a real anchor (RIP Peter Jennings) and then switch over to Spike for 'the worlds sexiest stripper brawls' and the like.

AND, they don't advertise to that demographic during the evening news. I watch ABC, so maybe it's different, but all the ads are about how I can piss better and shit regularly and get an erection at any point I want in the next 36 hours. I'm pretty sure they aren't targeting us YHMs.

AND I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN....

where at least I know I'm free.

And I won't forget the men who died,

who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,

next to you and defend her still today.

Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,

God bless the USA.

Well aren't you one savvy cat

And let me make sure I understand what you're saying. You don't want to hear about horrific cases of violence and inhumanity against people in countries we aren't friendly with?

You would rather suspect our media of trying to call us to arms? (Our media, which has been deeply embarassed by their actions during the initial Iraq invasion in 2003)

You astound me.

You think our media is bad?? Have you seen al-jazeera? Do you know what they promote?

Original article: No apologies, Katie Couric!

ONCE AGAIN, SHE IS NOT THE FIRST WOMAN TO HAVE HER JOB

Elizabeth Vargas - who is 10000x the reporter Couric is, steered the ship which is 'ABC World News Tonight' SOLO after Woodruff got messed up in Iraq. And she was great. If CBS hired her tonight, they would beat NBC by Friday. You wanna talk about 'gravitas'?? She stepped up when her close colleague and friend was seriously injured, and gave America the news, even though we all know she was going through hell.

Smug Liberal Idiot

Let's hope American cities aren't attacked this summer. Fool.

@ rebecalouise

Hold on. Do you still think that all conservatives and people right of center are happy with the war in Iraq? Do you think we still watch Fox News? Do you think we're not fed up with everything President Bush has done? Do you think we support 'slaughtering' thousands of people in the middle east??

I'm just saying that Garrison Keillor is a fool for his little satire. Hundreds of young women narrowly avoided nails ripping through their bodies at warp speed. Garrison can't imagine a funnier thing. Sitting in some 1920s haze eating rhubarb pie in a forgotten corner of America, he mocks the intelligence of the plotters. When the little sandy haired gap tooth daughter of GK is old enough to go to the TigerTiger club, if Garrison is alive, he won't be laughing.

"But I had no expectation that it would trigger such rage from so many of Salon's readers"

As soon as I saw your headline I had that expectation. There is no reasoning with the ubersensative offense mongering liberals who populate this site.

Headline of Drudge Report right now: ELIZABETH EDWARDS SAYS HILLARY 'BEHAVING LIIKE A MAN'

Elizabeth: If you're going to make the headline of the most influential website in washington (drugereport.com) maybe you should have someone paying attention to guiding you during the campaign. In today's world, this interview could very well aid your husbands' eminent derailment. (I actually would vote for John, but I'm not the media telling America what to do)

Joan: I guess you didn't mean any harm. Elizabeth's Coulter interview was her high point. She should have pulled a 'Costanza' and left the room right after that pinnacle.

Grasping for 'relevance' may have undermined her husband's campaign.

Tuesday, July 17, 2007 11:30 AM

in the words of that bully on the simpsons: "Ha haa"

In an attempt to make Salon relevant, Joan gives the right wing machine more ammunition. Why?

Haven't we read and blogged time and time again to not give them any ammunition?

The interpretation Matt Drudge made is strikingly similar to interpretations often posted on Broadsheet. Look, you both have agendas. If you don't want to get caught with your pants down, don't take them off.

May the best woman win.

hey DanOregon

If you want to question John McCain's 'manliness' go right ahead. You'd be a fool, but be my guest.

Someone should do a study....

Determining which states have the most flyers. I have a feeling the people who act the most outwardly passionate about global warming, are the same people who take to the skies the most.

Or I'll put it this way. When I lived in Ohio, most of my friends had never been on a plane. How can Al Gore or Madonna or any celebrity tell me to watch my emissions when they are the biggest culprits in the world? I walk to work. You folks take private jets.

I wonder how far Joan Walsh is flying today for her vacation?

Wednesday, July 18, 2007 06:54 AM

I wish I wouldn't get worked up when....

people say, 'anyways'

why do soo many folks add that 's'?

The word is anyway.

America the Horrible

blah blah blah.

We're so bad.

Everyone else is so good.

They're welcome for what we did with that whole WWII thing.

Yes.
