so, to summarize

Americans (I'm looking at you media!!) need to take a more tempered approach to comments concerning race. People should stop pulling a Ricky Bobby (running around screaming like an idiot pretending they're on fire) ever time someone says something about race. I appreciate your new approach King. Did you find an extinguisher?? (obviously not, demanding that Gary apologize to roughly 50 million people - get this!! apologize to every one, AAAHAHAHAHHAAH)

Oh yeah, black americans aren't playing baseball because of its excrutiatingly slow pace.

Hypocrate

Carol:

You claim that Kathleen Parker takes a "'don't bother me with facts' approach." But, when confronted with a fact, ".. lower levels of male hormones, lower sperm counts and fewer male babies," you reply with, "Oy."

Well, congratulations on making an argument with two letters (I actually wish you would display this economy more often!!). But, you decided to not be bothered with the fact that male babies are being born with lower levels of male hormones. Isn't that cause for a modicum of concern?

If girls were born with lower levels of female hormones, would that not be cause for concern?

to cop your style: Balmalocha!

Webber = LeBron

I think I'm going to take a Time-Out on that one. Even though you make good points, I don't think those two should be compared. Both Sergio Garcia and I take our sweet time before golf shots, but I don't think we're perfectly comparable. So for that, I've just called a T-O, wait... ooops, I traveled anyway.

Slingbox. Try dropping that word casually in any conversation and not getting laughed at. I think that was one of my frat brothers' nicknames.

Ms. Lloyd

"Now I would be ready to toss my recently devoured corn snacks did I not feel the uncomfortable twinge of envy myself."

FYI - That 'uncomfortable twinge' is a deadly sin.

If women want to help their friends, I'm okay with it. Sorry it makes you want to vomit.

Swine? Wow.

Jesus isn't.

And which are you generalizing?

True,

but, I would like us to be able to detain enemy combatants on the field, without needing to go get a warrant. That seems pretty stupid.

Same darn thing happened to...

Pete Rose. Bart Giamatti let Rose know that all would be forgiven if he just copped to betting (after serving a brief suspension). Then Bart died. The moral of the story is pretty clear. Even if you're the greatest, if you break the law, you don't necessarily deserve a pardon.

I have no problem with punishing him. He should be punished for being stupid enough to use the roids, AND for being stupid enough to admit to it.

If you think Giambi shouldn't be punished, you should join me in Cooperstown wearing a "Let Pete In" t-shirt.

And c'mon

The man has nearly juiced himself to death. Without sarcasm, he's not that far from Lyle Alzado.

re: Phil

"It was Rose who's told countless versions of his story trying to curry favor or engender sympathy"

Isn't that better than thousands of ex-juiceheads not saying anything about their mistakes????

where would I be without your pity?

we're lucky we don't have to find out.

Pete was and still is a major league a-hole. I don't think anyone denies that. But, he is more respectable than any player who used steroids. He didn't create a whole decade of scewed numbers and outright cheating. He just threw a few g's on a game. If you think that is worse than injecting illegal performance enhancing drugs, I would like more pity.

The NAACP lost its way when it turned it back on Bill Cosby.

XM

I heard that Dylan hour about baseball. A lot of it was 'fairly' recent. There was a pretty cool song about Ozzie Smith.

Also, if you're against the national anthem being played before games, I'm sorry you were raised poorly.

NL outfield thoughts

Andrew Jones is funny. Tubby guy who swings like he's in a F5 twister - usually below the pitch. And he catches the ball like he wants to give the management a heart attack - which is a nice touch.

Barry Bonds has done irreparable harm to baseball, and he just might be the devil - the jury is still out. I defended him up until that reality show (ironic). He's just an ass, with a needle hanging out.

Carlos Beltran is just about as good as they come (except for freezing with the world on the line).

G.D. Ken Griffey Jr. is having a great offensive season. If you get ESPN, you've noticed that he's in a time warp at the plate. I can't be the only one absolutely loving it. Nevertheless, I bet old poppa griff would be a more effective right fielder tonight than his son. I know, I know, if Jr. tried to make plays his legs would explode, so I'll put up with it. And, what person in America over the age of 15 doesn't want to see Jr in the derby? Get that man a chartered flight to the AllStar game, and fast.

Jenkins ain't that bad, but Soriano is too much fun to not invite to the All Star game.

But wait! What's even more exciting is that somewhere in Columbus, OSU football players are throwing steel around.
