The Real Obscenity Here Is Americans ...

Obsession with celebrities ......

And don't expect juvenile minds to be rational or sensitive to the issues you have raised ....

And TMZ and other such hypocrites are more interested in readership numbers than any ethical questions.

I have witnessed domestic violence several times ..... it is literally heart-breaking.

Usually the one abused has become dependent on the abuser in some way (financially, emotionally, co-dependent, etc) and the person's dependence (and usually loyalty) is rewarded with trauma of the worse sort. It degrades and scars the person for life.

It is the opposite of love ....

There is never any reason for such behavior and though the rage of the perpetrator may come from many different sources, the attack against a weaker person is the sign of a coward.

I don't know what Rihanna may feel she is dependent on her attacker for, but it takes courage on many different levels to report the abuse.

That is a credit to her.

And now is a time to think ...... do you abuse someone either at home or work just because you have a position that allows you to do so ???

Why A Depression Is Good .....

When people have to start considering what's important in life, they won't have the time or money to worry about such BS.

The Problem ....

Is a lack of higher consciousness .... and since such consciousness requires hard work by an individual and can never be a mass phenomena, we are doomed as a species.

It is true that the quality of our life is determined not by what we possess, but what we have allowed to possess our hearts ..... and that is now seen as selfishness, greed and fear.

As far as the plutocracy is concerned, there is only one solution ...... the people must take to the streets and overthrow the govt if necessary .... heads must roll ....... revolution is necessary and natural.

@-- Old Poor Richard

That's absolute bullshit...

I work in healthcare and can tell you our system is broken and a disgrace to the citizens of this country.

Every other industrialized country in the world has some form of single payer govt subsidized insurance.

I guess they all are just a bunch of imbeciles and fools .... or this is just another example of America's "specialness".

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sickaroundtheworld/

We spend more per capita than any other nation in the world and have poorer outcomes.

The administration rate for medicare is less than 5% of program costs.

For private insurance, the administration costs is 30% - 40% of program costs ........ as shareholders must make money and the huge salaries of executives must come from somewhere (in this case from the suffering of others).

Do you understand what this means ???

Approximately 1/3 of our health care costs could be saved by simply going to a non-profit single payer plan ..... and that 1/3 savings could be applied to health care rather than to oligopoly insurance structures.

The hodge-podge of insurance plans we have today ........ numbering in the thousands of different plans with different coverages is totally inefficient and unproductive, adding costs that cannot even be estimated.

I spend over half my time doing paperwork and PA's for insurance companies.

The average clinic now had more people dealing with the billing and bureaucracy of the insurance companies than they have people actually dealing with patients and delivering care ..... it is insane.

Such a system promotes inefficiencies and a lack of a means to evaluate outcomes.

A single payer non-profit (administered by a private organization or the govt) can provide a single standard of administration (read paperwork).

It allows a single simple well thought out drug formulary, care delivery standard, treatment protocol and database for evaluating outcomes.

As to third world status ..... we have already achieved that.

The WHO lists the US health care system as 34th in the world ....... which puts us with the likes of Costa Rica .... primarily due to lack of access.

Over 40% of Americans can't afford health care insurance.

What good is a god damned health care system, no matter its quality if people can't afford to use it?

I guess its okay to spend 500,000,000 dollars a year on a structure to kill people but god forbid we should actually use the taxpayers money to help the taxpayers.

Are you sure you are not a descendant of Cicero ???

Give Up the Empire ...

And disassemble the military ......

We're only hastening our decline and bringing unnecessary suffering and poverty to our own people trying to maintain such a posture.

Bounties On Deceptive Weasels

America and its people have no self-respect anymore.

There should be a bounty issued for deceptive weasels as there once was for coyotes.

One hundred dollars for each one killed and tagged.

@AI RE: Hitler

Inequality, extreme suffering and deprivation along with desperation can bring a strongman into power anywhere at anytime.

Even greedy elitists should recognize the limits to which they can push the "rabble".

It can be argued that Roosevelt actually preserved the class that considered him a traitor.
